Slade Vs. Codeman in two games

[Slade]

(insert dramatic music here) welcome again Valhalla fans to another fine day on the battlefield. Codeman was once again fielding his incredible orc army of goodness. This is the first time I (Slade) have played pre-chosen armies as well as this army in particular so I knew I was in for trouble. For those not familiar a recap of His army: 4 swogs, 3 sets of grut archers, Krog, and Mimring. I went with Airborne Elite, Alister Mcdirk and the Mckirk warriors, deathreavers, Thaecus, and Sgt Drake. The battle field name will have to be supplied by Codeman or Jormi as I cannot remember it, but it had road all the way down the center, water on either side, and two hills with ruins on them. Now on to the recap, and hopefully Jormi and Codeman will provide pictures that they took!

Game one, round one:
Alister goes and takes a wound and gets to the south hill (with larger ruins) behind the wall. A swog rider and some archers gain the north hill and height. The robo rats got up the hill towards the archers for a game we like to call every one can disengage...

round two: Positioning round with a grut archer deciding to snipe off a poor unsuspecting Mcdirk warrior.

round three: Mimring jumped on the hill near Alister not able to resist and tries to fry some poor fellows, but they manage to survive. Alister charges Mimring and a large amount of cursing is heard from the scot. After five wounds he brings Mimring down (the high point of my game). I also got the one glyph of the game with a robo rat which turned out to be the glyph of summoning (how useless!).

round four: Air borne finally drop taking out only one swog and 3 orcs due to poor positioning on my part. Gruts shoot back and take down two airborne. Alister also goes down in a hail of arrows. Krug moves in accompanied by grut chanting (KRUG, KRUG, KRUG).

round five: Krug outmaneuvers me to get highround after I get two wounds on the troll and he takes it personal and kills both airborne elite. I forgot to reposition here to match highground or keep it from Krug (oh man!)

round six: Krug smashes the poor Thaecus to feathers and then jumps on Sgt Drake rolling an amazing six skulls and Drake decides his moral is low after watching his ride get smashed and rolls blanks on defense. (ok, who knew there were such things as six skulls on a roll??!!)

The last remaining Mcdirk (gramps) hid behind a tree and slunk back home to cry to Jandar about trolls.

my inexperience showed here but all the bonding was just too damn much.

Ok, so I was defeated and across the way we heard the cry during the first turn of Jormi's castle game that Hawthorne decided to switch sides while he was defending the battlements... ouch... just... ouch.

Second Game:

changing tactics I went with the gladitrons and the blastitrons, the nikita agents and the Gorillanators, the deathreavers, the airborne elite, and Crixus. Codeman brought the same incredible orc force.

Turn one saw positioning as swog riders took up the south hill this game instead of the north bringing three archers along for the ride. They started shooting turn one and took down a nikita agent and two blastitrons. How long do airborne elite take to drop? Answer: As long as the beer lasts they don't!... ok my first turn brought the gorillanators up under the hill where the swog was, the nikita's behind them, the gladitrons up the center and the blastitrons tagging along with the nikita's.

Turn two the swog continued to whittle me down and this damn orc jumps on the glyph and this game oh look, its plus two defense. Also Krug decides to get into it early and comes on down the road. The deathreavers come up the north hill which is empty and begin making their way down toward that grut on that defense +2 marker. Krug gets to the gladitrons, the gruts shoot one dead, and then kill a gorillanator. The center of the board turns into a big cluster.

Turn three turns my way as I beat the grut off the defense +2 by the end of the turn and I take it with the deathreavers, and then Krug is surrounded by 2 deathreavers, 3 gladitrons, and one empty spot... which Crixus decides to take. Now its getting tense.

Turn four finds the airborne elite seeing that it is time to stop drinking beer and arrive just in time to have Codeman lose that defense +2. The grenades fly into the back of his army and when the smoke clears Mimring, a single swog, and a single orc are left standing with Mimring with two wounds. I think I tried not to puke from how tense I was during the init roll when he rolled a nineteen and then I matched it and rerolled a sixteen to beat Codeman on init. The game got blown open here as Crixus took a beating from Krug and beat him back taking two turns to give him with two wounds.

Turn five: Mimring came up and with the +2 defense a deathreaver and three airborne elite in a row brushed off the soot and said thanks for the roasting of our marshmellows. Crixus moved and juked and got into base with both mimring and Krug (what an insane guy he is). Crixus took two turns again and killed Mimring on the first swing, then took two wounds from Krug bringing Crixus to one wound remaining, and then slapped Krug back causing a incredible five wounds, leaving Krug with one!

Turn six: Krug angry... Krug kills Crixus and a deathreaver, and the next deathreaver gets the glyph again. Two deathreavers left. The airborne elite with two guys left after getting shot up some more by grut make their way over and shoot Krug to death from above. three gladitrons close with a swog and two orcs.

Turn seven: The gladitrons get whittled down to one left who holds on to that orc for all he's worth (take that disengage). One gorillanator left and two nakita agents dash up the middle and shoot that last swog rider in the center. The last turn of the round finds the nakita agents blasting his last two orcs upon which Codeman says thank you. What a sport and what a game. The airborne elite won the whole thing against the grut swarm army. These guys when they did get tired of drinking beer and were used right did the job!

The night was great and I learned a whole lot from Jormi and Codeman who were both really friendly and helpful in clarifying some of the rules for me. I definately learned alot and will be taking the road trip down there at least once or twice a month!

Slade, nice battle reports. I might add my high points were winning inisitive twice from you by rolling a 5! This was balance by a low point when I rolled my highest D20 of the night a 19 and lose when you tie me with a 19 ( your highest roll of the night also I believe ) I've never seen so many 1,2, 3 & 5's rolled with a D20 in one night. I hope we can get some more games in prior to the Tree Town Open, it was a great doing battle against you, hope to wound you soon again.

Is it just me, or are the orcs green and does krug's sword have a orangish paint job on it?

It is not just you. Codeman has real orcs. Everyone knows orcs are green, and Krug has blood on his cleaver, because he is a bad mo fo. Did you notice how his Mimring has a green cast as well.
