Holy Lands RPG

Has anyone ever played/heard about Holy Lands the Christian Role-Playing Game? It is a small company game that has been around for about 10 years now. Last summer, by Divine Intervention (yeah, its a joke ) I ended up on the design team and I have been editing and compiling all the rules since then. HLRPG is going Online and is going to be a mix of Online tools and table top play. It should be interesting to see how it works out since nothing like this has never been done before.

Re: Holy Lands RPG

I just wrote the 3rd Preview today and posted it on the Forums. It shows a lot of the core elements of the new edition.

Re: Holy Lands RPG

This is a terrific idea. I wish more games like this and video games too would be released.

Yeah kboleen, I do too. I think Christian Gaming is a growing industry though (or at least I hope). One thing I know, if I don't go career in the Marine Corps then I will start churning out Christian boardgames (and maybe some others as well).

Re: Holy Lands RPG

Is there a particular reason why we need Christian games, as opposed to non-Christian games? It seems to me that in developing our own niche markets for Christian this and Christian that we are excluding ourselves from influencing and dialoging the world in any meaningful way. If we want to keep those non-Christians out of our little clubs, or create stuff just to entertain Christians, then Christian niche markets are the way to go. However, if we want to have an impact on our world, then we need to be involved with what is going on in the world.

J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Charles Williams, Cordwainer Smith, Gene Wolfe etc. (to name a few in the Sci-fi/fantasy realm) created their art, and their faith flowed through their work. This is what makes works by these authors so great. As soon as we compromise art (whether it be painting, writing, or game design, or whatever) to force a message, we create bad art. Art gives expression to the image of God within us, but if we prostitute that art, even if for a good cause, it is still bad art. Perhaps the best tool of the devil over the last 30-40 years has been the "Christian" media and mass market industries that create substandard products and keep our message bottled up so only other Christians can hear it. (As well as creating many casualties of the unchristian practices that go on within these industries)

Instead of creating "Christian" games, create good games and let your faith flow through you to influence those around you.
