I voted wave 5, though 3 and 4 are on top of my list. I just really like Ninjas

If so, this man should be hired. Hands down, no questions asked.
I'll second that vote. You'd see topless amazon chics and Treefolk so damn fast it would be considered wave 2.

I voted for Wave 3 myself. Though it's a really hard decision. I really care more about the look and feel of a unit than it's effectiveness, so I'd have to say my favorite waves are:

Jandar's Oath - So many fun concepts here. We've got 2 self wounding powers here. A guy who can take 2 turns and a walking bomb. Some real panic and fear added with both the walking bomb and the disease ridden dogs. The ability to teleport units around the map with a flying unit and some of my favorite sculps ever (I just wish Concan was easier to use). Great fun added with the monks "flip out and kill things" abilities (best unit to make sound effects for) and the goofiest bunch of scots you'd ever seen in battle. The agents are a real powerhouse unit and the Sentinels finally make the game look something like Valhalla.

Raknar's Vision - Amazing sculps on these guys. Nilfheim is the single most intimidating figure in the game, with the power to match. Jotun is suitably enormous and his throw ability adds so much to the game I'm disappointed it isn't more common. (HLD YOU!). Braxas is a monster as is Q9 that really gives Vydar some strength and Theracus gives possibly 9 flying movement to any unit you want. DED wouldn't be the same without his loyal steed.

Utgar's Rage - Perhaps not the most exciting wave, but I wouldn't even look at the game without it. Knights in shining armor are simply required for any wargame as is some sort of cave troll. Minutemen and Werewolves go down as the goofiest combo with the most unexpected strength. Honestly not the most amazing set, but the game would be simply wrong without some of the units here.

Thora's Vengence - Simply the most fun and goofy abilities ever. Rats biting each other to scurry forward, Ninja poofing all over the place. Samurai charging forward screaming (you don't get the move bonus if you don't scream). Hot women and their monkeys blinding everyone that takes aim at them. Wolves that teach everyone the joy of All Skulz. This release just adds a certain amount of crazy mayhem to the game that I really enjoy.

Mallidon's Prophecy - Honestly I'm not fond of the commons. They're just entirely functional, powerful, but they don't do anything really exciting or unique. It's a workhorse release that marches forward and gets the job done, but without any real flair or excitement. Frenzy is cool though and the Snipers are really cool looking in a campy sort of way. I love bright white robots though. Taelord still wins as one of the game's best sculps.

Zanafor's Discovery - More workhorse units really. A lot of bland, straightfowards abilities on the commons. Cowboys are ok, though adding a second shotgun guy seems simply wrong. The new samurai are cool too. Heroes are hit and miss. Sudema's pretty decent, Parmenio's rather generic, Morsbane is amazing, the Major is decent, but somewhat bland. Valguard is probably the strangest and most questionable hero yet, lizard arm and all.

Orm's Return - Charos rocks but other than that, this set's pretty bland. Our resident Bone Dragon doesn't do anything really exciting, and DW8K has never worked quite right for me. Dund is way better than people seem to think, though I wish he could move then gaze. Braxas is pretty solid all around though.

I think after Wave 4 we've started to see a lot of units that really play with some feeling and emotion. Raknar's is popular because you really get the feeling of what those units fight like, from the freezing blasts of Nilfheim to the unescapable terror of Braxas's poison breath, it's so easy to picture Q9 stomping out before firing a rapid series of plasma bolts or seeing Theracus soar through the air to drop off his mount. And of course, it's really hard not to see how terrifying Jotun is as he hurls men around like dolls.

I absolutely love the tundra, where the Dzu-Teh can run around the snow, hiding in the glaciers to pounce on those fooling enough to cross their domain (anytime I glacier traverse to get the drop on a foe with the Dzu-Teh I call it the Flying Yeti Smash). It's a far cry from the Obsidian "Guards" who really don't even defend the lava terrain well. Wave 5 continues this trend with nipping rats that are a horrid nuisance and ninja that poof around evading damage. Really the special abilities have simply become more and more fun.

My vote goes for wave 1 because I love to play themed armies, so it was great to have a lot of Orcs and Romans for starters.

Well, this question is tough because you have to take into account playability and balance of generals. I'd have to say Wave 1 because the abilities were simple, yet fun and effective, and it covered most of the generals equally.

ps: Isn't it strange how not a single expansion has given every general an equal amount of units? Especially considering the fact that 5 heroes can be conveniently packed into a Wave/blister pak, and a Huge Figure pak.

Teamski is surprisingly tart
Wave 1 will always be THE classic set. It is the only set with 2 complete armies. It will be really tough to beat the Orcs and Romans in a single wave....

Wave 4, personally I loved this wave and everything in it, even the Sacred Band.

Wow... the only thing that even seems to get used from wave 4 is the Samurai and Aubrien Archers...

I guess the Gladiatrons might get used now, but still...

I only drink the blood of my enemies, and occasionally a strawberry yoohoo.

Wave I is way out in front. Although it is one of my favorites, that does surprise me.

Thought you could just slip a few posts in unnoticed and all? Welcome back!!

I'm surprised, too, but not so much with the reasoning.
