A small Ullar piece for a trade deal: Arcane Ruins

I assume those ladders work? How did you make them?

The primary material in all my pieces is foam. The ladders consist of slots in the foam with wooden shish-ka-bob skewers glued and painted to look like bamboo ladders.

Did you use foam for the tree too? I haven't had much luck making interesting trees, though I've not put a ton of effort into them either.

Those trees are aquarium decor that I repainted. I have made trees from floral wire and wrap that work well for dead trees for graveyard scenes and such. I started off making stuff that was as realistic as possible like model railroad, but I've found that using some plastic looking pieces such as the aquarium plants and not flocking or painting base hexes completely strikes a nice balance that integrates the pieces into the overall Heroscape appearance.
