So Dark You Can't Even See.

Maybe I missed something here, but wasn't the question about if you made a cave out of your terrain, and the figure in question is deep enough into the cave that you can't see it due to it being too dark INSIDE the cave? This has nothing to do (the way I read it) with how bright the actual lights are in the room. Last I checked a cave is still dark during the day.

I would argue you can in fact shoot. The designers didn't take lighting into account, so it's legal. in real life, most robots would have a little red beam, elves would be able to see, and humans would get nerfed. It's just how it works.

Fine. Send it in guys; be sure to get a specification about the wattage, number of bulbs, accepted lighting angle, and legality of flashlights and/or laser pointers while you are at it.

The point is it is nearly impossible to make a cave deep enough that there is no light in it and have it still be playable.

I think where the issue became muddled is post #9. Up to that point, we were talking about a situational in-game scenario. Somehow, after that post, it became about actual real-life rules about lighting.

I agree with you 100% Rÿchean. I just think the original intent of this post got misconstrued somewhere along the way.

Lighting rules is just plain dumb, in the real-life sense.

It's a game. Play it so you can see it. End of discussion.

My point is that lighting is a variable. In the scenario presented he says you can't see the figure without a flashlight. What I am saying is if the same map and scenario where set up with different lighting from different angles or wattage or wahtevers, the spider might actually be visible with out a flash light.

Lets leave real world out of this, as any number of units could claim to have something thematically that allows them to see in the dark and a real cave may have different areas of it lit up at different points in the day.

We can't assume everyone is playing herosape with equal overhead lighting. Just because one lighting set up yields a dark spot on a map doesn't mean a different lighting setup won't light up the same area.

You guys are trying to make the rules (LOS) account for an unmanageable variable. (lighting type, wattage, angle of source)

Let me point out that in my first response to this thread that all though I thought there was potential for argument here, I agreed that for simplicity an official ruling would more than likely reveal that you CAN shoot.
