The Punisher: War Zone

The Punisher has been my favorite comic character for many years in the past. I always found the 1989 film to be pure cheese. The 2004 film, although it actually strayed from the comic origins a bit, I still found it very enjoyable. The upcoming 2008 film, my levels of excitement have constantly shifted between high and low.

First I was excited that they were making a sequel to the 2004 version.
I became more excited when I found out the were using Jigsaw as the main villain.
I became upset when Thomas Jane lost faith in the film and left the project, causing it to be a reboot, and Ray Stevenson took the role.
I became even more unexcited when I seen the first released photo, which made it look like a cruddy Steven Seagal film.
I was completely unmoved by the first trailer.
The second trailer picked me up a tad bit since they revealed Jigsaw.
After finding out that the film is based on the the extremely violent MAX Series and viewing the red band trailer my excitement almost came back ten fold.

So what are everyone else's expectations for this film? Will it succeed? Or will it bust?

Just watched the last trailer you posted and now I am actually pretty excited about seeing it. Titus Pullo (from Rome) is the new punisher whithc is a waaay better choice then the last guy who played him. Plus the trailer indicates it will be alot of shoot 'em up action which is what the punisher is suppose to be all about. Not a hero but an anti hero with tons of guns. I think the 2004 version missed the mark IMO.

i donot know the punisher video game, with thomas jane`s was awsome..
at lst the directed woman was fired, some rumors are that the move will cut to a pg 13, beause batmaqn was so sucssesfull. but afterv that redband trailer.

and who knows what wie seen in the redband trailer( the beginn or just the final)

i loved the punisher from ennis he fas funny , max is without humor only f... words and some gore, but outstanding the six isseues storys. ok some are not soo good but some awsome.

Holy crap! I saw the trailer and it fraggin frags! I'm never a fan of Punisher but I think I'm going to be a big fan of this movie! Gore is bettor ("better" doesn't rhyme)!

Just kidding. With all joking aside, imdb's synopsis of this film reads:

"Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the "Punisher Task Force" hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished."

Thats pretty much sums it up.

Last week I began to find TV spot advertisements on television! Unfortunately I don't have any links to any decent quality videos for these TV Spot. Apparently they're still keeping the R rating, so we know they're are not going to hold back much... Yay!

With Tom Jane leaving, it got turned into a reboot that wasn't needed. Doesn't look as good as the first, and the feeling is different. The fact that they are trying to do the "Knights" thing...I'm not feeling it, not with the comics, etc. Won't be seeing it.

At a moment of the clip, the character seemed a bit too goofy to me, but it somewhat fits his personality from the old comics, so I'm going to look over it, a bit.

NecroBlade, DeceitfulBeauty, I'm sorry to hear that you guys don't have much faith in this film. I too, was extremely pissed when Thomas Jane left the project, I like just about anything that he's in, but I'm trying to keep my head up and stay optimistic. Even my fiance is upset with the new actor. I think it's because Stevenson is not much of a pretty-boy like Jane is, (not trying to down him or anything.) All I can say is, we'll see what happens.
