Who likes this manga? Also, this thread is for all discussion of Shonen Jump.

I hate it. I've had it since day 1 and I'm ready to quit my subscription. I'm down to reading only half the stories. But mostly I'm sick of all the pandering and pimping that goes on in the magazine. It seems like all the advertising, all the game tips, and most of the reviews are for things sold by Viz. Not to mention that half of the stories have a CCG or Action figure being pimped out in said magazine.

I subscribe. Jan 2006 until now... still read virtually of the stories, but the fact Bo-BoBo, Yu Yu Hakusho, and One Piece TOGETHER get as many chapters as Naruto and Bleach makes me angry. I mean, come on - we've been in Alabasta for, like, a year and a half! Naruto's been through three subplots since then.

It's Viz's in-house advertising... they spend more time on the francises they own than the one's they don't. It's frustrating, but what can you do?

Did they axe Hikaru No Go like they did the video release, or have they finished it? Go is a great mental challenge.

I want them to release the anime as a cheap thinpack.

They still release the manga in volumes (Volume 13 will be releasing in October), but it's been cut from the monthly line-up. I believe the anime releases on DVD have been axed, as you said, the last being Volume 11. However, it still streams online, courtesy of Toonami Jetstream, and I believe it's still airing on ImaginAsian TV. It's a fairly obscure channel; not many people have it.

Not Shonen Jump, but I just gave Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind a read. Excellent story. I hear the movie isn't that good, unfortunately. I was thinking about watching the movie to flesh out some of the action sequences. The manga focused so much on the story/dialogue that it was difficult to tell what was happening action-wise.

I can't stand Shonen Jump. Sorry.

Nausicaä, like every flim by Miyazaki, is like a work of art in motion. You can watch them over and over again, on mute, even, just to look at the art... it's beautiful. Like Disney in its prime.

Never read the manga, though.

Who told you that? It's from the same person! Hayao Miyazaki is regarded as one of the best animators in the world, and Nausicaa is regarded as a classic.

It is not as complex a tale, and ends at a far earlier point in the story, and the animation is not a pretty as today's, but man, it really holds up. There was no way the entire manga story would condense itself into a single film anyhow. Even a trilogy would struggle.

Go a see, nay, buy it!

Thanks Johnny139 for the tip on watching streaming episodes of Hikaru. Wish I could select subtitles, but it's cool.
