Thanks, Elffy. This is a house rule, I take it?

Or have I been playing without a rule all this time?

(Wouldn't be the first time. )

This is not a rule in HS (except the House kind). In some other miniatures games it is used and some feel that HS lacks without it. I tend to disagree with those.

Awesome picture, Cav! Are all 5 in that photo, or just the one? Took me a few minutes just to get the one, though!

Re: jungle/palm tree bonus (works for pine trees?)

I'm with carvaggio. I was excited about the TJ rules when I first heard about them and envisioned a whole new way to play the game. This is because I assumed they would extend the rule in some way to the other terrain objects.

I for one am certainly going to House Rule that the same rule for Jungle objects also applies to RttFF walls, trees, RotV ruins, and the SotM Hive.

In all my life, I've only been able to see the one guy witht he M-16. Dad says when he landed he snapped the picture of the jungle, then saw the guys coming out.

Re: jungle/palm tree bonus (works for pine trees?)

I am really confused. This is the official rules area of the forum. Yet this entire thread is about making a house rule. I mean surely none of you here think that WOTC/Hasbro are going to retroactively rule that the rule applies to prior releases to this one?

Reality versus game play debate is great. Stating one's position on why your way of doing a house rule is better is great too. But RttFF is never going to be officially ruled as retroactive to have the same affects as the Jungle pieces. It simply isn't going to happen.

What about those people that never own a Jungle set? Hopefully you guys see that is the main reason there is not some all encompassing change to everything: Some people may never own the Jungle set.

Re: jungle/palm tree bonus (works for pine trees?)

Are people who don't own SotM never allowed to flip their double-spaced figures for free?

Re: jungle/palm tree bonus (works for pine trees?)

Good point but you are also referring to a version of a master set that included the 3rd edition master set rules versus a terrain expansion set. Such a change as free flip would only have been given in a Master set just as the height a figure could climb was changed from 1st edition to 2nd edition.

This type of retroactive change to all terrain obstacles would have had to come in a master set with a 4th release of the master set rules.

They didn't do it and no manner of debate in this thread is going to make it happen. Jungle pieces are the only pieces that have Jungle rules.

Enjoy your house rules, though! I know I will.
