Fringe: New Show from JJ Abrams

There's been a lot of buzz online about this show, its going to be on Fox this fall (which means its probably going to be cancelled after 2-5 episodes ) anyways, here is the trailer/promo video it looks promising:

That guy has a thing with airplanes. It could be like Sarah Connor Chronicles, though. Come in surpirisingly and get a large amout of viewers. Looks good though.

I think JJ Abrams has established himself enough that it should be Fox-proof.

Wow, that looks pretty cool. At this point its kind of hard to get over the creepiness of oceanic guy from Lost, though.

After watching the premier episode I have to say I was underwhelmed.

It was pretty standard fare. It was uninspiring and predictable. I pretty much predicted how it would end (except for the sleeper agent), knowing what the "team" would be, who the bad guy was, how most everything would pan out, etc. I found the hi-tech nature of things to be a bit much, but that is pretty standard Abrams fair, so it can be forgiven if the story and characters improve. It reminds me of "Threshold" on CBS a few years ago, but not as imaginative.

Hopefully the future episodes can pull it together, otherwise I don't think it will last.

Thanks Buddy Lee, anyone else? I've been debating whether to give this one a go or not. I watch way too much TV so I told myself no new shows this season... but maybe just one.

I watched the first half or so...was pretty bored. Won't be going out of my way to tune into this one again.

First episodes are often hard to judge a series by IMO and while this one was okay, I'll give it a couple more to see where it goes. As Buddy mentioned, some of it was predictible and while I didn't expect John to be a bad guy, I didn't expect him to live through the episode either.

Now that the background is set up and the "team" is assembled, the show can move forward and perhaps become a "must tivo" show. Or not, since I don't watch many series' any longer, and with hockey season coming up, I'm even more selective in what else I'll be watching this fall, winter and spring.

I thought it was a solid show. I'll definitely catch a few more episodes before I write it off. I only have 2 non-news/sports shows that I watch (Lost and Heroes), so I have room for one more. I like the characters of the "the team," and the foreshadowing of time travel and reanimation has piqued my interest.
