If I ... Ebay ... Flogging?

I am in need of cash to keep my custom works flowing. I make my customs because I enjoy making customs just for the fun of it. So it would not hurt my games, or lack their of, for me to sell them.

This was an idea I never played around with, it takes me a day or two to make a good custom and giving them up would be madness, but seeing a custom using a D&D figure sell for 75$ (anomaly but the point is...) I figure that true "one of a kind" figures should sell for at least 15$ a piece.

My point is that before I do this I want to know the full extent of the punishments inflicted on those that sell to E-bay on the site. I would be selling my own ideas and unless I had someone make cards for me (I would pay them if I did as long as I made a profit) then the job would be all me. I might use versions of abilities found of the site every now and then though, I plan on doing a set of figures with a magic ability using the "Gift of Magic" ability stile, but that should not be a big deal.

I would not be doing any of this for a while though.

So forty lashes, or good graces, only you can decide.

If you do the work, then it is yours to sell, I wouldn't see a problem with this. Except that part where Hasbro may get a little cranky about their intellectual property, but that would be your own battle.

So far, problems on this site with ebay transactions have been with people downloading the cards someone else created and then selling it on ebay with the appropriate figure. Just rude. That would be like me downloading my favorite comic, having it printed on a t shirt, and then selling it. You have to get the artists permission to sell their creation.

When I saw what some Treants were going for with heroscape cards on ebay, I almost posted one of my teams that I had created. It was one of those $70 anomolies you mention.

Ya it was some squid like D&D figure I later looked it up and found it on E-Bay un Heroscape-atized for $2.50. The HS version had some eating and regurgitating ability.

I al looking into buying a roll of film and taking these pictures and having a CD made so I can E-Bay some stuff.

For Sure my Brother. (Duh Dyzzle)

Do yo thang, Wid.

I just urge that you would get permission from whoever's ideas you may emulate. You already got more respect than the Ebay Bobs out there by posting this poll. And I agree, whoever said know should say why.

No, and here's my reason for anyone to think twice about cashing in HS customs for money:

The more money that is made on HS customs, the more Hasbro is likely to look down on allowing this merry little community to get away with its blatant IP infringement.

We've already had one site shut down (.net) because of the influence of their legal department - simplistically, I would rather not have ANY member profit 1 cent from their custom works, since making money on Hasbro IP is where the problem is.

Widigo - I am referring to customs as custom unit cards - are you talking about painted figures? If so - knock yourself out.

And I wouldn;t be OK with anyone seeling a Gift of Magic card for personal gain - that was made by Chinaboy, and I don;t think he wanted people to have to pay for HS customs. But that's my guess, as a customs fan.

Yes!

1. If it is your stuff go for it, no one "here" can tell you what you can and can't do with "your" stuff.

2. To be different than reaper.

Bannister

That can only mean one thing. And I don't know what it is.

Reaper, it's all in how he words the auction. If he's making sure his auction is for the fig and that the card is free, he should be fine.

Yes, no one has to buy them unless they like them. It's a free country, whether everyone knows that or not. I agree w/ Bunjee to ask permission if you emulate anyone's stuff.
