Glyph of Sturla and Rannveig Question

Okay me and my cousins could not figure out the glyph of Sturla..

I think whoever steps on the glyph gets to roll the 20 sd for all the figures destroyed, my cousins think, they get to roll for their own when the glyph is stepped on...

Also...The glyph of Rannveig, does that mean stealth flyers cannot fly as well?

Thanks,

- Ub3rB3n

The player who owns the figure that lands on Sturla gets to roll.

Wording for Sturla (bolded phrase is the key):

Sturla (revive): Included in the "Grut Orcs" set. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die for each figure destroyed in this battle (yours, your teammates' and your opponents') If you roll a 19 or a 20, place a figure in any starting zone of your choice. If you roll 1 through 18, the figure remains destroyed.

Rannveig cancels all flying abilities.

Stealth flying is just a special form of Flying and is affected under Rannveig.

Newb.

Glyph of Sturla (Revive) Temporary Glyph

And yes, it means stealth flying as well!

Re: Glyph of Sturla and Rannveig Question

2 question related to Glyph of Sturla, that came up in the last game:

When a player is rolling for this glyph and an opponent's figure is successfully revived, is this opponent's figure now under the control of the player on the glyph? I said no, because the glyph does not expressly state this, and my friend said yes because it is implied. I don't think it is implied in the glyph, but I would like to hear what the experts think.

Secondly, is this glyph automatically activated when stepped on, or is it "carried" to be used at a later time?

The revived figures stay under the control of the person who started with them in their army. The possession never changes.

Glyphs are never carried unless they are gold treasure glyphs. Once you step on the glyph, you can choose not to activate it, but if you choose to activate it, it gets used and is gone forever since it's temporary.

Whoa whoa whoa. This is totally wrong.

SotM Rulebook, page 13, under "Glyphs":
"When one of your figures moves onto a Glyph that is symbol-side up, stop there and turn the Glyph power-side up; the powers on the Glyph take effect immediately."

Sorry if I misunderstood what you said, but there is no choice whether or not to activate a Glyph you step on (unless it's a Treasure Glyph).

I believe that if the glyph is already power-side-up you can choose to just sit there.

Nope, when you step onto a Temporary Power Glyph, the effect takes effect immediately. That's the reason only wounded heroes may step on Kelda, a player would just have a hero sit there until they are almost dead and heal once they have 1 or 2 life left.

What about figures that were Mind Shackled or Soul Devoured before they died? Do they come back under the control of the person who started with them in their army or under the control of the person who currently controls the Army card? I'm pretty sure it is the latter, but the answer quoted made me think about it and question my assumption.

The quoted answer is incorrect, then. Once you have Mindshackled a figure, it is part of your Army. Sturla says nothing about the figures switching Armies, so you keep the Mindshackled figure.

On a related note, do Revived figures stay Negated? A strict reading of the glyphs say yes, but I was wondering if there was a ruling about it.

There is no mechanic or rule for removing the negation marker from the card, so if the unit is revived, the negation marker is still there and therefore the unit's abilities are still negated. My take on it, anyway.
