Re: Jexik's Maps (Burn Gully, last page)
I tried to make it so that very few spaces were the same, and that camping didn't really work. Did this bear out in actual play?
The games I played (playtesting and at the tournament) there was very little camping and lots of movement. The focus of combat seemed to be the center of board around that central tree. This was done very well. It was difficult to feel comfortable sitting anywhere on the board for more than a couple turns. Did the asymmetric glyph access cause any major issues? My only problem with the glyphs was having them so isolated, it seemed like going for them was always more of an afterthought than something you would try to do right away. Granted at the tournament it drew all of my opponents rats out of the middle of the board so I could fly straight through to his ranged units. Did most of the map get used? Most, generally not the highest points on the hills, but I think alot of that had to do with engagements happening to prevent units from getting up there. Did it seem to overly favor one ability or another? (flying too good? melee too bad? Double-spacers stuck?) Playing a mostly flying army, I never felt in a bad situation on this map. I could consistently out race my opponent to the high ground an then make them shoot at 7 or 8 defense minions. Then be able to fly off the hill and engage them next turn. Not that this was really an issue, bumpy maps are flying friendly, but I just wanted to point out that out. Most importantly- was it fun? Did you want to play on it again? Overall it was fun, I would play on it again. Last edited by Queenmojo : November 23rd, 2009 at 03:24 PM. Reason: stealing Clarissimus' format We are friends, ouch. |

Re: Jexik's Maps (Burn Gully, last page)
Have been really liking Derelict lately. Played about three 1v1 games on it and even played a 2v2 game on it, 250 pt armies shared starting zones. Super fun! It feels like cheating to send Iskra out and block the starting zone with the Rechets, or grab glyphs on turn 1 with him, but it's not overly powerful, and I like it with Iskra is useful. :P
