The only thing the dwarves (besides Gimli) did during the War of the Ring was to defend Dale and the Lonely Mountain. Dain Ironfist died there fighting the Easterlings. Sauron had many armies attacking on all fronts during the war.

id like to see balin and the dwarves fight in moria. If we see events leading up to lord of the rings that would be a great battle too see

That's the kind of material that would make great content for these movies...it would tie up some of the loose ends.

It would be really neat to do some Silmarillion stories.

1) The creation of the Silmarils, followed by the destruction of the trees by Ungoliant and Morgoth
2) Their theft and the Elves hunting them down
3) The creation and destruction of the lamps even before the trees
4) The birth of Galadriel in the Undying Lands (I am not even trying to keep chronology here!)
5) Beren one-handed getting a Silmaril back from Morgoth
6) Celebrinbor's lesson from Sauron on how to make the rings
7) Aule teaching Sauron how to work a forge and hammer

Also, is Tom Bombadil Aule?
