Re: Rocktrolls Customs-Gnids!!!
Man, your stuff is cool. I may try the ruined mech. That is so awesome, and I have some steam golems from a bag of Mage Knight figures I got at a yard sale. Thanks for the great ideas.

Making the destroyed mechs are easy enough, I am planning on trying it on some spare zettin guards next

Re: Rocktrolls Customs-Gnids!!!
Rocktroll, I'm thinking of using a heated thumbtack to make the bullet holes. Do you think I'm on the right track with this?
Also, I hardly ever play with my swamp pieces... I don't know, I just didn't like them as much as the others. But these sorts of ideas for terrain breathe new life into settings I might not normally care for, so thanks! rolls one less defense die against figures who like him. |

Re: Rocktrolls Customs-Gnids!!!
I did a search on youtube on how to make bullet holes for warhammer ( or how to make battledamage on minis)
I saw a few different ways. One was simply to drill a hole with a scaple, another was to make a tiny hole first with a small drill bit, then use a slightly larger one to make the hole a little wider but not much deeper to give the bullet hole a wider impact area but not as deep. Then take a knight and slightly rough up the edges of the hole. The key from what the tutorials all said was the paint job. If I was painting a mech with holes on a blue surface I would drill the hole, the first paint black the hole and a little over the border, then paint the border around the hole with a tiny tiny border of a very light blue touching the original blue, as if the paint chipped, then between the light color and the black a drybrush of metal color, like chainmail or silver or mithril. The effect is really cool. Ill see If I can post a picture of my test model since I suck at explaining. You tube did a much better job. |

Re: Rocktrolls Customs-Gnids!!!
Rocktroll, I think you described it very well.
I have some trepidation about it, because I was never the greatest miniatures painter, and haven't painted any minis in a LONG time. I'll definitely go look on youtube. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. rolls one less defense die against figures who like him. |

Re: Rocktrolls Customs-Gnids!!!
Rocktroll, I noticed that way, way back in this thread you stated you were using Warhammer decals for customs. Do you still use those? I have several sheets of decals left over from years ago that I have absolutely no use for.
