Player 2 starting zones for Wolf Swamp Road?
I was going to play ambush at wolf swamp road and realized there ARE no orange starting zones for player two. Can anyone illuminate me?

I had the same problem, we just assumed that the ambusher could start basically anywhere on the middle island that was more than about 10 spaces away from the other zone, or out of the other zones LOS.
btw, I dont think anyone ever beat the ambush. All that high ground and the river is terribly harsh. Sure somebody could sneak one hero by, but not 2. Sudema is top notch in Heroscape: Legacy. Try out this alternative unit cost system at your next game day or tournament. |

Ah, that's sort of what we did. We allowed anywhere not on the third (the ambushee's?) island.
First game: I was the ambushee, and I made it through! This was largely due to me drafting Braxas as my last pick, and my opponent was too late (only 75 points left) to counterdraft. It was my first game using Braxas myself and WOW. This was close though. If I hadn't gotten a lucky poison cloud off on X17 I would have had a tough time getting my other hero to the end of the board. Second game: I was the ambusher, and I crushed my enemies! He drafted Q9 and I got scared, but good old Krug came through. Actually, Krug killed just about his whole army, and my roman archers finished the rest off. Third game: No scenario, 300 points. I took 2 squads of Gladiatrons (CYBERCLAW) and Sudema. He took almost all ranged (aubrien archers, guilty, dan, Venoc Warlord). Came down to my one 'Tron and Sudema VS. the warlord and I stoned him. Was tense for a bit but I prevailed. Fun times. I like that map. Next time maybe we'll try Struggle! |

Yeah, Theracus and Mittens nearly break that map. Nearly. I picked them in my first game and had Theracus take Thorgrimm. My opponent got some good unleashed fury rolls and rolled all skulls though, killing theracus one turn and thorgrimm the next. Good thing I had Braxas for backup.
After the games, we were thinking that it might make sense for both player to bring pre-made armies instead of drafting. That way its more of a surprise ambush. I think it would be kind of fun, but you might have to adjust the points. |

Ah Theracus...
When I played that scenario, I didn't have the Rakner's Vision yet, or I would have drafted, or counterdrafted theracus in a heartbeat. Anyone notice that you can block all of the alternative ways to the main island with one squad of Izumi samurai? After that, the only way for them to get through is to take the road. Sudema is top notch in Heroscape: Legacy. Try out this alternative unit cost system at your next game day or tournament. |
