the Real Phases of a turn

I just read some speculation on another thread about wether or not Kelda could heal if she doesn't move. I've seen so many questions like this, I decided it needed its own topic.

Kelda can heal without moving. The text of her card says "After moving and before attacking...". This refers to a phase of the turn, and not an action that can be only be performed if a movement and an attack is made.

THE PHASES OF A TURN:
  • Reveal Order Marker Phase
    Before Moving Phase
    Moving Phase
After Moving and Before Attacking Phase (AMABA phase)
    Attack Phase
    End of Turn phase

This is how the game was meant to be played. If you don't agree, you're a rules lawyer

This was just cut out because all the talk about phases in the MS advanced rulebook make the rules seem too regimented and complex, but I find this to be 100% consistent with Hasbro's rulings.

Feel free to comment if I left something out, or if you think I'm dead wrong.

Teamski is surprisingly tart
I didn't think there was any argument about the "after moving" statement in figures' abilities. Oh well, it's good to address them from time to time, hehehehe....

It is good to write it clearly. New player who don't go to this site nor Hasbro's site do get confused about the "...after moving and before attacking". One frequent newb question is "Do I have to move to use the Chomp ability?". No.

Things you might have missed in the rulebook:
Figures can't pass through friendly engaged figures.
Figures can't attack themselves.

There was plenty of and on that thread. Thanks for posting the rundown Cornpuff.
Not sure if it was a rules lawyering type of thing or the person was just trying to stir things up for attention.

I just hadn't read one of the parts on that thread making a confusing mess, I agree on how CornPuff says it works. Unless you were talking about another person, then I'll let him defend himself.

No worries, SBN. No, I'm not talking about you. You get the idea of the turn phase.

I don't remember who posted the incident I was talking about, but it wasn't the first (or third) time I've seen comments like that.

Someday I would like to put together an 'unofficial' official rulebook for use in tournaments and the like.

I just about mentioned how you forgot AE's drop roll, but then I realized it is the phases of a turn, not round.

No, it is an optional ability.

No, Grimnak can only chomp after he has moved (if you decide to move him) and before he decides to attack.
I think the FAQ makes it clear that "Before attacking" refers to the 'After Moving and Before Attacking' phase

I bet if Rob and Craig redid this card, they would change the text to "After moving and before attacking" like Ne-Gok-Sa's Mindshackle. I think Rob and Craig realize that the loose wording on cards like this causes confusion, so I seriously doubt we will ever see another "Before attacking" ability.
