Metamorphosis: NorCal Gameday II

RE_EDITED BY H_E_H
* Game day: Saturday July 29
* HEH residence (PMs to confirmed members will come this week!)
* 11 AM to 7 PM
* I'm thinking 400-425 point armies.
* Free play
* Official boards and custom boards (see below)
* Custom units welcomed (integrated with official units TBD?)
* Bring your own dice, turn markers, and wound counters

* Wife will be out, but wants to stop in around 3ish to show my oldest son the fun we're having.
* I'll provide a case of water and soda (hope Coke or Pepsi works for you all) and some chips and salsa or dip.
* BYOB, but I'll also have some wine if anyone's interested. I can go farther on the grape and it doesn't weigh me down like beer.
* I'll have a BBQ for any of you who want to bring some meat and buns.
UPDATE: I just bought four packs of Ballpark franks to chow down on. I'll buy buns later this week.
* Also tonight, The Raley's register lady gave me a free pewter shooter! So I'm going to offer this up. Who ever beats me in a match gets it, but they must also pass it on to whomever beats them.

It's a Jagermeister (sp?) pewter shooter, so maybe I'll get Jaeger for a victory shot each time someone wins or defends the shooter.

I'm thinking of getting a big fat Raley's deli sandwich to grind on midway through the day. You decide what you want to eat.

Maps in Play:

Battle for Ravag's Bridge
2 vs 2
400 ppp
.sol at: http://heroscapers.com/oldgallery/di....php?pos=-1869

here is what I have set up for the Quest for the Golden Fleece. I just completed it tonight and I have not played this scenario. It could be full of flaws. If you see any blaring discrepancies, let me know!

QUEST FOR THE GOLDEN FLEECE
(The map may be played with this scenario or without)

Teams are 400 points. They start in either zone.

They must get the fleece glyph (behind Talos on the plateau) and carry it to their end zone of the same color.

* If the fleece has not been obtained, the Talos statue may be passed in adjacent hexes without engagement rules applying. Fallen pillars are impassable.

On the field there is the Hydra's Teeth glyph and the Golden Fleece glyph. In addition, there are two Mitonsouls near each end zone in case anyone feels the urgency to 'push the button'!

If someone goes for the Hydra's Teeth, they automatically get 4 skellies to control on the following round for the remainder of the game. Keep in mind the Hydra's Teeth glyph in on a 1 space elevation! As are the end zones! This eliminates double spaced figures from completing the scenario or obtaining the Skeletons.

The Fleece can be taken from a carrier by destroying that figure. When the fleece switches hands, so does the controller of Talos. Any unused order markers on Talos are lost.

Here are all the scenario-specific cards needed for this game:

Hymar's Temple
Destructible movable terrain with an objective
http://www.heroscapers.com/community...ead.php?t=1394

Soulrazor
Forsaken Waters
Table of the Giants
HEH Lava and Snow
CCC 3 vs 3 map (to be built the day of the event)

Other ideas?
Post it!
Bring it!
Play it!

As per usual I'll play either way. I would prefer some free play which we didn't have last time. Perhaps an elimination tourney, those eliminated can play whatever the hell they want ... well within reason, as nobody wants to see UD lose at strip poker!!!

Is the H_e_H household still available for the 29th?

Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.

I've asked Hex if we can impose enough on his wonderful family to offer his place up to host those who can make it and want to get some good dice-rollin' going'.

Hopefully he'll have some room - oh let me find his previous posts on the matter:

Uh, I think I could do the 13 'Scapers that have signed up to play. I need some additional folding tables and I have 8 wooden chairs, 5 patio chairs & 4 stools, but some of you might want to bring own folding chair. The weather's been really hot, but Newark gets an excellent breeze most of the time around 2-3PM. I have a really big backyard and if we could get those collapsible shade tents and some tables, we can have a very nice outdoor event. I can host a map or two on my dining room table and if need be, in the garage.

I have a glass patio table that has a lazy susan built on the top. I've always wanted to design a revolving HS map. Who knows I may get a chance.

It's a shame though - my delicious plums are pretty much done for the season. I had yard bins full of plums that went to waste as I couldn't eat them fast enough. I would've gladly given anyone as many as they could eat or take home.

I'll spring for some drinks, snacks, and Swisher Sweets (yeah I know, but they're cheap). BYOB

I do have a BBQ, but I suck at cooking on it.

and Reaper, I may just bring out the ramshackle drumset.
I can bring some hot dogs and sausages (if someone has expertise with Johnsonville Brats, I'd love to try 'em out) and can help with the BBQing.

I would really vote for all unorganized, free-play.
I feel we may be all somewhat burned out on a tournament attempts for the time being.
Let's just get together, and as Maelchi so eloquently says, "Play the F-ing game!"

I'd love to get in a 2v2 or 3v3 with some of y'all and hopefully the CCC - I know ToryAdore would like to play, too, if it was more casual structure.

And knowing us, you KNOW there'll be plenty of grudge-matching and trash-talkin' so there's competetive interest.

I say we call out members and reserve grudge matches and get them penned in.
I'm reserving one match for pitboss, if he'd like a rematch from when he thoroughly outplayed me, but I still somehow won.

Satyr - could you change the thread title to be "Metamorphosis - NorCal GameDay II"
And then after a week or so, change the title to drop the Metamorphosis? TIA

I've got an email into their scheduling guy confirming availability ... he is out today ... their online calendar show it completely open ... should know tomorrow.

I like to think can grill with the best of them, but just in case I'm still checking with Endgame

Reaper: I aim to please ...

Cry endgame and let slip the doggin of war.

Wow. I've spent the entire day installing our new oven and dishwasher.

GOOD GOD I NEVER WANT TO GO THROUGH THAT PLUMBING NIGHTMARE AGAIN!!!

ahem,
*composed*

Anyway, I finally get the appliances in (sort of), log on HSers, and discover the Beatdown is off! Wow, tis sad.

Yes, my house is still open if the lot of you bums want to show up. Satyr, I get the feeling you'd prefer to have it at Endgame rather than a personal residence. Let me know. I'm happy not lugging my HS stuff anywhere, but If you all want to have it at Endgame, I'll still go.

We can play as long as possible at my house. My ideal game day consisted of continual gaming from 10Am to Midnight. Let me talk to my wife and see if that's possible. And if it is possible, we'll need to move indoors once it gets dark (unless we agree to stop playing at sundown).

Perhaps I need to start a thread with a confirmation feature...

LOL

If this goes down at my place, I need someone to hold my hand doing a tournament. Or hell, someone can just do it themselves?

Agreed ... the drive and $$$ were no big deal for me.

I was just keeping options open with Endgame ... I did not want to lose what ever momentum the beatdown was carring. There is no comitment to Endgame at this time. All day HS at Hex's house with beer and BBQ sounds good me! Feel free to edit this thread to your hearts content Mr. Amin(s).

Alrighty then, I want back in too!!!!!!!! I am willing to contribute a nice 5 player scenario I've been working on. It's called Assassination Tango. Victory condition is successfully assininating 3 targets. Satyr has played a version of it before. In this game there are no squads, only heros. Hex's or Endgame both work for me. Let's hope the heat wave breaks either way. Hex, you sure you can accomodate 10-12 or so rabid scapers?

Yeah, but it would be mostly outdoors in the backyard.

I can secure a shade tent type thing for the backyard. If we can get 1 or 2 more ( I may buy one just to have for other gatherings) and the weather's not too hot, This is the best way for me to host.

I have a dining room table with 6 chairs for your map or Satyr's. I have the folding table with a discarded whiteboard I lay on top for a big ass game area. I have a low coffee table in the living room.
Total chairs including the patio set and my favorite gaming stool - 11. we may need 2 or 3 chairs.

Then I have my garage, but it's a bit messy if you all don't mind playing among clutter.

Either way. We can drink while we game at my house. Endgame doesn't afford that luxury. Satyr you can be as loud as you want, my wife will most likely be gone for the day.

I would like to hear what people think of playing outdoors - especially if the weather stays the way it's been going lately.

Personally, I am up for H_e_H's. Nothing against Endgame, as it has probably the best gaming area I have ever seen! It is simply the fact that I made unalterable plans for being in the south end of the state after the gaming session and H_e_H's place will at least get me a lot closer than Oakland. And, of course, there is the really important factor:

I have a 3 x 8 folding table we can use, as long as I can pick it up the next afternoon at some point. I can't help with chairs or tents I'm afraid.
