How to surgically reattach limbs?

I'm starting work on a MS repaint/mod set, but can't decide on the best way to attached a donated arm or weapon to a patient's stub.

JB Weld might be too brittle, how about Gorilla Glue, melting it in place, using bits of that sculpy stuff or something like it, maybe a glue gun.

What has worked for other modders here?

P.S. I've seen lots of posts about the "BizarroScape" set, but can't locate it, other than one cached page in Google. Is it anywhere all in one piece?

I have used hot glue, but only as a dry connect, to see how a figure will look. Gorilla glue might work, but it foams up so it would hurt the overall look. Melting them together would be paint in the ass. I would use superglue, but be careful it dries white, so do not get it on something you need to not be white. I have one I am working on now held together with model cement. If you use a small enough amounts it works well. I would go to my local hobby store and see what you can come up with.

There are several options.

Regular old grocery store super glue is the cheapest/easiest, but it does tend to dry white.

Hot glue is a messy choice, and often won't bond well plastic to plastic.

Putty isn't the best for actual bonding, it's better for filling any gaps left after glueing.

The best choice is a model glue called Zap-A-Gap. It is not expensive (maybe 4 bucks for more than you'll probably need) But, it may be difficult to find, as it is specifically made for miniatures. It holds like super glue but doesn't dry white.

Hope this helps!

i use super glue. Holds strong, under typical playing conditions, and dries quickly.

Super glue (regular or gel) is the easiest. Quite strong but it can be brittle. If it is a stress joint then pin the joint and superglue. Then use Kneadatite ("Green Stuff") epoxy putty for smoothing the joints and seams (if needed) for a very professional look.

I like Zap-a-Gap, Jet Glue, or Perfect Glue 3 from Liquid Nails.

Gorilla Glue is for porous substances. Great for wood, but I'm pretty sure the arm would just pop off with Gorilla Glue. It also foams up, so unless you want a big goofy puff of glue sticking out of the guy's shoulder, don't bother.

I've reattached arms to figures with staples before. Cut the post end off a staple and press it into the plastic on the body. Since it has a little bit of an edge, it should go in fairly easily. Press the arm onto the other end, which should also be slightly sharp since you cut it. You can put some glue on the spot as well. After you have it where you want it, fill in the gaps, if any with body putty.

Thanks everyone for all the tips. I decided to go look for the Zap-a-Dap crazy glue. Found this stuff called Insta-Flex+ at a Hobby Town (they also had Zap-a-Dap, but this stuff seems to be the same thing). It's a crazy glue (cyanoacrylate) with some rubber added to it. Bonds like crazy glue but the joints can take some flexing. There were at least 10 different kinds of crazy glue varieties.

I've swapped some swords and guns and arms and stuff. It glues hardened sculpy onto the figures really well, too.

Found out about Super Sculpy and the green stuff along the way. I've done something to Agent Carr that is really pretty bizarre. Pictures coming soon...
