Whats Your Favorite Viper Army To Use?

I want to show my friends that the vipers don't suck, so I was wondering what people thought was the best viper army to use? A 500 or 600 point army is good.

Also, what kinda map is the best for vipers? I am guessing mostly flat with road, water, and whatnot. Maybe afew trees for cover.

Now, I know someone will be around to show me 27 links to other threads like this sooner or later, but untill then any ideas would be nice .

For your map: Water, lost of water. Slow down the enemy as much as you can with those little blue tiles. Flat is also good. Yes, try to think of a swamp. that should work to your advantage.

I played an all Ullar army once that was awesome if you like to roll for frenzy. It was a bunch of different Vipers and lots of Aubrians, and Syvaris (who still rocks).

Well, I would probably get at least 3 of the venocs or 2 of the armocs. The VW is a must have as well.

I only have a couple squads of Vipers, but I've had success with this army:

Mittens - 120
Vipers x2 - 80
Aubriens x2 - 140
Syvarris - 100
Deadeye Dan - 60

Total = 500

For 600 pts, I would drop dan and add Armoc Vipers x2 and Guilty. I normally use the Vipers as the first wave of attack, but not until the 2nd round. I like to put 2 markers on the elves or Dan to try and get a shot or 2 in, then on #3 the Vipers run out. Then, next round hope for an initiative win and swarm.

I assume you're willing to buy/fake any figure except rares?

-Venoc Warlord 120
-Syvarris 100
-Saylind 80
-Theracus 40
-venoc vipers(3) 120
-aubrien archers(2) 140
TOTAL 600

I've never played most of those figures, but if you carry Saylind and teleport Syvarris, you'll be able to attack figures 29 spaces away by the end of the first round! Just aim for the main support hero and let your vipers clean up. Teleport some archers if necessary, but keep Mittens safe.

PoF used this army against me and it did pretty good:

Aubrien Archers x4- 280
Venoc Warlord- 120
EOV- 100
------------------
500

I think this army would be pretty sweet.(But it'd take up 26 spaces)

Venoc Vipers x4- 160
Aubrien Archers x3- 210
Venoc Warlord- 120
Armoc Vipers- 65
Theracus- 40
----------------------
595

I've had good results from this army, on almost any map build. But obviously vipers fare even better when water is around.

For 500pts,

120 Venoc Warlord
160 Venoc Vipers x4
140 Aubrien Archers x2
65 Armoc Vipers
10 Isamu

For 600pts, add in Elite Onyx Vipers

100 Elite Onyx Vipers

This army is a great combo of melee frenzy and range frenzy, which can be followed up by the heavy hitting and fast moving Armov/Mittens combo for endgame mopup. It also allows room for a 10pt Isamu for that special assassin mission, which is oh so much fun.

Blackrock Woo who?
Is it still possible to have a great viper army without the Elite Onyx Vipers? The exclusives are so unfair to us who were either ignorant of the offer or unable to attend the conventions It's really embarassing for me 'cos I got my first Master Set for Christmas '06, and I didn't know about the EOV version Anyway, is it acceptable to repaint a regular Venoc, Swog, Knight, and Monk to match the Elite Onyx, Nerak, Hawthorne, and Master Woo and play them with print-out army cards? Come to think of it, what's the best material for printing makeshift army cards on, and where could one find a good clean scan of the Basic Game side?
Ah, but I guess that's off topic a bit. Anyway, yeah, the vipers are beginning to appeal to me as well but I fear a lack of EOV would hinder my abilities to get my zerg on.

EOV are fun to play, and can be very effective, but you can certainly build a great viper army without them. None of the exclusives out there are "must haves", but they are "nice haves". If you really want one, just do a repaint. Cardstock paper or even higher quality photopaper also work well for printing proxy cards.

As long as you have a good number of viper squads available (3 or 4 at least), then you can build a good swarm army. But they will need ranged backup, so at least 2 squads of Aubrien Elves work perfectly with the frenzy theme. The core army, IMHO, needs to include Mittens with 1 squad of Armocs, and at least 3 viper squads and at least 2 Aubrien Archer squads.... This makes a solid army center to build further upon.

MrBarkypants Woo who?
Mittens
EOV
Venocs
Aubriens x3

Venocs and Mittens hang back as your final wave. Archers make kabobs for everyone.
