Is there any real difference between the first edition dice and the second edition dice?

This is getting a little off topic but the second edition dice are white and have both shields and skulls on the same die. I find them much more practical.

Three skulls and six sides on the red dice.

Two shields and six sides on the blue dice.

Three skulls, two shields, and six sides on the white dice.

The math doesn't change unless the number of skulls/shields/sides change.

The posts deleted because they had nothing to do with The Minions of Utgar. This post and yours will soon join them in the delete bucket.

Here is the thread explaining what's happening.

Re: The Book of Minions of Utgar

I think Atlaga synergizes with the Minions much more than he synergizes with the Protectors. The extra move point is really valuable for Minons. Minionsx3 + Atlaga makes for a great 420 point core for an army.

The main weakness of that army is rats and range, which unfortunately is a pretty common combo.

Option 1: rat disposal

330 Minions of Utgar x3
90 Atlaga
120 Kaemon Awa
540, 11 hexes

Obvious enough strategy. Kaemon clears rat screens, Minions go for the kill, Atlaga and/or Kaemon clean up. At 600, Q9 does the job even better.

Option 2: two can play at that game!

330 Minions of Utgar x3
90 Atlaga
80 Deathreavers x2
500, 18 hexes

Count on your own rats to hold up the enemy long enough for you to chew through the opposing rat-screen. This version also appears really effective against a valiant 4th Mass army. At 550, throw in some Marro Warriors for ranged support.

Gromazeka Woo who?
Re: The Book of Minions of Utgar

Possibly:
Minions x2-220
Atlaga- 90
Repulsors x2-80
Isamu-10
400 14 hexes
Strategy: Repulsors kill rats, and the minions fly in with 5 move. Atlaga/Isamu on cleap-up duty.

Or:
Minions x2-220
Atlaga- 90
Repulsors x2-80
Syvarris-100
Isamu-10
500 15 hexes
Strategy: Same as last army only with Atlaga more on the front lines and Syvarris for clean-up. (Or vice-versa)

Or:
Minions x2-220
Atlaga- 90
Q9-180
Isamu-10
500 10 hexes
Strategy: Kill some rats with Q9, then spread your OMs between Minons and Q9, leaving your opponent unsure on who to attack, try to grab and hold high ground w/ minions and cover them with Q9.

Or:
Minions x2-220
Atlaga- 90
Q9-180
Raelin-80
Guilty- 30
600 11 hexes
Strategy: Minions+Q9 with raelin is tough! Q9 has 9 def. and Minions have 8,(9 with height) Guilty/ Atlaga for cleanup.

Re: The Book of Minions of Utgar

Good armies there.

While this is theoryscape, my instinct is that it's worth springing for a third squad of Minions if you're boosting them with Atlaga. This gives you a ton of staying power (thanks to your high defense) and the ability to just keep coming against ranged squad armies.

I do like the idea of using repulsors, though. They nicely combine the roles of screeners, ranged support, and rat killers. They also take 'trons off the "problem opponent" list.

How about:

80 Omnicron Repulsors x2
90 Atlaga
330 Minions of Utgar x3
500, 16 hexes

I don't really care for Repulsors x2 at a Rat answer. They only thing they have going for them is Circuitry Overload, and that can only target each Rat once per turn and is unreliable. However, might this actually be a spot for Kumiko to shine?

Minions x3 - 330
Atlaga - 420
Kumiko - 500???
