Dune: War For Arrakis (CMON)

I have now played 2 games with live opponents and 12 solitaires (playing both sides). I've gamed through almost all of the expansions and extra modules. This is both a war game and a stylized adventure game with characters and cards that portray many of the theme of the Dune Universe, along with the beautiful table presence. Bretwalda (Phalanx)

Due in September (I've backed it on Gamefound) about the only significant negative criticism in its many videos and reviews over long production delays is that "I]it doesn't do anything new." [/I] I've just discovered an article disagreeing, which is here by a well known reviewer:

Yesterday at my friend Scott's house in Poughkeepsie: Return to Dark Tower (competitive mode), Thunderstone Quest, Fury of Dracula, Monsters Menace America, Blood Rage and Stone Age.

My wife found a complete copy of Smash Up in a neighborhood lending library. My Zombie Dinosaurs just barely eked out a win against her Robot Tricksters. Looking at my logged plays, I hadn't played Smash Up since 2011. This time around, I was surprised how fiddly/crunchy it plays, however with more plays, we probably would get more comfortable with the bookkeeping. Fun regardless!

Yesterday: Space Base and Elder Sign (against Azathoth; we won with one doom token left).

Today: Atlantis Rising twice (lost the first time; barely won the second time) and Ravenous River twice.

My wife and I were big into Smash up for a few years. Have a decent collection. Haven't played in a while though, but had lots of fun with it! We used d20s to help track the numbers on each base.

Played some Cascadia and finally broke 100 pts. Picked up Landmarks, and will give it a go soon.
