Oh, and I still need to pick a map ... EDIT: Might be easier for people to claim a map if you link them in the OP. Anyways, I guess I'll take Fire Isles ... I know VW is hard to come by, and I have some, so maybe that one makes the most sense for me. Quote:

To help out a little more, I'll also bring the map, "Blackroot."

Okay, so my map (Fire Isles) has two glyph spots. Will those both be treasure glyphs, both power glyphs, or one of each? I understand that the treasure glyphs come from the listed pool, and the power glyphs come from the listed pool, but how do we know which one to use where? Also, should everyone bringing a map bring some glyphs, or ... ? Built Fire Isles tonight, so I should be good to bring that on. Still no whiteboard at this time. Quote:

Re: NHSD: SoCal Slaughter! 2011
I second Xotli's question about glyphage. Also, if a map has predetermined glyphs I would assume that those would take precedence over the glyph pool no?
In other news, I'm getting excited. I have my army pretty much planned out and I feel pretty good about it. Some of my old staples and some new friends mixed in. We'll see how it goes. Re: NHSD: SoCal Slaughter! 2011
Predetermined glyphs never count in the way of glyphage unless its a scenario. Tournament specifics overrule in these cases. Glyphs can be imbalanced if predetermined and considering we have a fair amount of negative glyphs it'll be interesting how they effect game play. All glyphs should be available for each map, though in the past we've used paper cutouts of the glyphs if we didn't have enough of the real thing. As long as there is a way to randomly choose a glyph and conceal it from both players before the game starts that is all that matters. I can try to whip up some proxy glyphs for someone to print if people think we may need them.
Personally I'm against glyphs for the most part because they can really overpower the game in some cases but its been so long since I used them and I figured it'd add some more variation and fun. So I voted for them this time. |

Re: NHSD: SoCal Slaughter! 2011
Hmmm... one of the maps I am building has a big overhang and a couple of summoning glyphs on top which is generally helpful to get some people up top in lieu of ladders. So in the tournament they would be replaced with glyphs from the glyph pool?

Re: NHSD: SoCal Slaughter! 2011
Hmmm I didn't realize anyone was planning on building a non standard map of any kind. Glyphs can be blocked so it may not be the best idea at least you can climb a ladder and fight the figure blocking it.

I am a bit confused however on what you mean by blocking glyphs. Re: NHSD: SoCal Slaughter! 2011
Well if the glyph is only way to get up to the top of something just putting a tough unit on there could make it an unfair battle. I don't know how your map is put together though. Anyway most tourney maps have designated glyph spots, the ones on your map would probably be considered terrain in this case.
