A really good sort game (it plays in about 10-15 minutes) is Sushi Go!. It's like a simplified 7 Wonders but still has a lot of strategy. Gamewright is really good at simple games with lots of strategy for all ages. I highly recommend Sushi Go! to anyone.

If you want a card game, go for Iron Man Game of War. $8 on ebay, as well!

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

My 7 year old really likes Love Letter. For 15 minutes, you probably have to go with a card game...probably not many board games that fall in that range.

A DiceMasters starter set. Comes with enough dice and cards for two players to play a shorter, but still fun, version of the game. My 8 year old learned it in one play and loves it! Probably hard for a kid to learn it themselves from reading the rule book, but if you can play it with them they should pick it up quickly. There's enough stuff in the starter set to have fun for a while in my opinion, and it usually fits in the 15 minute range at that size.

Good question Q.

Also, how many players would he usually be playing with. I mean, the play time will be increased in games as more players are involved.

Here are some shorter type games:

Battle Sheep
Hey, That's My Fish!
Zombie Dice
Incan Gold
Deadman's Draw
Eight Minute Empire

Hand of fate is moving and the finger points to you
...Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man

Seconded. Alternatively, Star Wars Clash of the Lightsabers, if you can find it. Same game, different theme.

Bummer, I thought it was more of a 15-minute game--I had heard Tiny Epic Kingdoms was like that.

Works for my just turned 8 year old. He's been playing since he was 6.

Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

This past week I have played Abyss, Splendor, Nexus Ops, Drakkon, Carcassonne, Tokaido, Loop Inc, Batman Love Letters & Tiny Epic Galaxy.

First time playing Nexus Ops. Kind of enjoyed it but it seems that once you start getting attacked & defeated there is no coming back. We played 4 players. The first guy attacked never looked to get back into the fight. I was next & whilst I won a couple of battles in my retreat to try & consolidate my defenses I didn't have a shot of recovering.

First time playing Tokaido. Nice game. Interesting movement mechanic. First game we played I was the little orphan girl & it didn't matter when I got to the inn so but I was never first or last. I won that game (convincingly). The next game I was the old man & struggled the whole way through because I was last to move out of the inn. That meant missing out on the landscape places early on then missing the hot springs for the second half & I was always first to the inn -- except the final one. Didn't matter what I tried I somehow managed to be first in to the inn which meant last out. Somehow I didn't come last but it was definitely a poor showing against my first game.

My KS for Loop Inc arrived. I really enjoy this game. You work in a time travelling travel agency trying to get the maximum profits for 1 day's work. Which helps when you get to redo the day an extra 2 times. It is un-obviously very strategic. There are 3 rounds (days) & the first is easy. The second is more thoughtful & the third even more so. It's a quick game. With 2 players, myself & my middlest, learning the game it was only 30 minutes. The 3rd day (2nd redo of the same day ) becomes a little bit more aggressive as you often are faced with not having an option to help yourself further so it turns to what are my options to make it harder for the other players .

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Playing Sentinels of the Multiverse (including a big five player Vengeance style game today, which was pretty fun), Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, and Tiny Epic Kingdoms as of late (as well as a couple more I don't remember the names of).

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
