Oh, in an alternate universe where they have it? I think it is very, very lightly attended. By people wearing masks. In a mostly-empty exhibit hall. It would be sad, and probably a money-losing proposition for the organizers.

You're describing Origins. The only reason they are having it is because of the contract they have with the Columbus Convention Center. Im guessing attendance will go from 20,000 to about 5,000. I think more people are willing or look fwd to summer vacations. "IF" Essen is still a go its 2 weeks later. A lot of publishers will be prepping for that, and has anyone thought about the fact that a lot of publishers are going to be short on product if they have any at all due to China.

This whole scene just SUCKS Donkey Balls! It will get better though.

Yup. That's pretty much what I was guessing.

They have to work with their partners - in this case, Indy and Indiana (among others) - and wait/pray until the choice is taken from them, triggering contract consequences that protect them financially.

It's not like they think there will be a convention. It's just that canceling now might not be as sensible as canceling later, for reasons that we consumers do not immediately see.

I've been laughing my ass about this over on the Gen Con forums. (It's not a friendly place.) GC staff keep deleting almost anything about the virus and their response or lack thereof. Some times for s h i t s and giggles I will post stuff to push their buttons.
