I have been playing Heroscape since 2006 and have been part of many an epic game of Hscape. I figured I would share my scape games with the community so the next time I pull off a 5x viper frenzy, or my cousin mind shackles my Charos and DW8K in a single game, you can all share my joy/misery.

Battle 2

I decided to play a single player game to try out the rest of my D1 units that I haven’t used yet. So here are the two armies that will be playing:
Team purple:
2x 10th regiment of foot
2x Knights of Weston
1x Raelin
1x Torin
1x Otonashi


Team Green:
2x Warriors of Ashra
1x Granite Guardians
1x Water Elemental
1x Sonlen
1x Sherwin Wildborn


Here is the map they will be playing on:

For the glyphs, I selected two glyphs out of the following: Mitonsoul,Valda,Gerda x2,Jalgard,Astrid,Dagmar.

The armies are placed:


Keep in mind the battle will be played using my single player order marker placement rules, which I have outlined in the thread:

Spoiler Alert!

The battle begins!
Round 1:
1: Sherwin Wildborn moves up towards the glyph
1: Torin advances toward his glyph as well

2: Sherwin grabs her glyph, revealing it to be the glyph of Gerda. She then attacks Torin with her Arcane bolt, but misses.

2:Knights move up as well
3:Warriors of Ashra move up

3:Raelin sweeps in an reveals the glyph of Dagmar!

Round 2:
1: Knights move up to surround Raelin
1: Warriors of Ashra move up to surround Sherwin Wildborn
2: Knights in the back move up, ready to replace any knights that may fall in the front line
2: Sonlen moves and tries to attack a knight but the knight dodges with ease.
3: the 10th Regiment of foot moves up and fire upon Sherwin and a Warrior of Ashra.


Sherwin survives but takes 4 wounds, The warrior of Ashra lay dead beside her.

3: Sherwin, enraged by the loss of her Ashra friend, fires her arcane bolt back at the 10th Regiment, killing one. The bolt bounces to the next but Raelin’s aura gives him enough defense to survive.
Round 3:
Team purple goes first, enhanced by the glyph of Dagmar
1: The 10th Regiment Drop Sherwin and another Warrior of Ashra in a hail of musket fire.

1: The Granite Guardians advance to aid their injured companions
2: the 10th Regiment bring up reinforcements to strengthen their line and fire upon a Warrior of Ashra, killing her instantly.
2:Sonlen uses his dragon to swoop down on Raelin and wounds her. He then attacks her giving her three more wounds.
3: The 10th Reigment moves up onto the hill and fires at Sonlen. He is hit three times.


3: Although he is wounded, Sonlen summons all of his strength and strikes back at Raelin, Sending her into oblivion.

Round 4: Having removed Raelin from the glyph, Green gets a chance to go first!
1: Sonlen fires another shot and kills a 10th Regiment soldier.
1: The knights swarm in and secure both glyphs while two others climb up to attack Sonlen. They manage to inflict one wound on the injured Archmage.
2: Sonlen tries to strike back, but the defense boosted knights are too well protected.
2: The knights overpower and kill Sonlen (they take his dragon into custody for questioning)

3: The Granite Guardians move in with Gain High Ground and slaughter two knights using their Landslide attack increase.

3: The 10th Regiment of Foot retaliates, firing into the rocky rogues. The barrage leaves all three of them in pieces.

Round 5: Having reclaimed Dagmar, the purple team wins initiative.
1: The 10th Regiment move up and kill a Warrior of Ashra.
1: The Warriors of Ashra respond by killing two of the 10th Regiment soldiers.

2: Torin moves up and Swings at a Warrior of Ashra, The warrior uses defensive agility and nimbly dodges the attack.
2: Two warriors of Ashra fight back, but to no avail. One dies by the power of Torin’s Evil Eye
3: Torin Swings again but the Warrior of Ashra backflips over his axe with Defensive Agility
3: The water elemental move up and fires at a 10th Regiment, and misses.
Round 6: Purple wins using the glyph of Dagmar
1: 10th Regiment fires at the water elemental, leaving it a lifeless puddle. They miss the Warrior of Ashra .
1: Water elemental…
2: Torin tries to attack the Warrior of Ashra again, and again he fails
2: Warrior of Ashra tries to stab Torin, she also fails
3: 4 knights move in against the WoA. She manages to dodge every attack.
3: Water elemental…
Round 7: Purple wins initiative again!
1 The tenth take aim for the win. The WoA dodges one but the second bullet hits its mark, fatally wounding the last, and bravest, of the Green team.

Round 8: The remaining purple team poses for a victory picture


Ok, so I added some verbiage in there to make this match up seem more epic, but it was a total landslide (No, not the Granite Guardians!). The 10th Regiment was the obvious MVP, making short work of anything the Green team brought forward.

Battle 1: 3v3 SporktheSloth Vs TinyBruce Vs SF

Spoiler Alert!

To start off this thread, I’ll describe a game we played last night. It was the first time we have really tried the D&D and D1 units. My brother was home for Easter so we played a 3 Vs 3. For the sake of the description, I'll use some easy tag names:

SporktheSloth's Fiancee (SF)=My Fiancee

The Map (My own creation):



TinyBruce started on the left, I started on the bottom right, and SF at the top.

Our Armies (500 pts):

Immediately after drafting, we all realized how melee heavy all of our armies were. SF was the only one with two range units, Pelloth and Othkurik. It was going to be a very heated match!

The game begins!

I rush my GIE out of the gate and onto the snow near the center of the map. SF moves Pelloth towards the snow as well. TinyBruce moves his spiders and wyvern out front and brings his dwarves and romans up behind to keep his whole army in a close group. The first battle is between Pelloth and the GIE. My 6 Attack makes short work of Pelloth. Pelloth dies without getting a single hit on my GIE. I then moved my air elemental up with my GIE to keep others out of the ice territory!

SF starts to move up her deepwyrm drow while TinyBruce spends countless turns repositioning his army. I move Charos and the greenscales left through the lava fields to meet TinyBruce's squad heavy army. Charos and the greenscales quickly become engaged. The greenscales get the chance to kill 2 spiders without much effort. The next turn TinyBruce counters with Darrak and the Axegrinders. A series of poor defense rolls and some major skulls rolled due to Darrak's Sneak attack 2 and the Axegrinder's Fearless advantage led to the death of Charos in only one turn! Charos did CS one of the Axegrinders though. The axegrinders and spiders finish up on Greenscales, but they managed to take out a spider or two before they all died.

Meanwhile, SF's drow pass through the central ice territory avoiding my GIE, but getting stuck in the Air Elemental's swirling vortex. They pushed through however and cut my Air Elemental down in one swing. The drow pressed forward and engaged TinyBruce's spiders. The Wyvern carried one of the drow into the center of TB's army while the spiders attacked the other two. By the end of it, all three drow were dead, but one had managed to get a hit on the Wyvern, his poison blade dealing a second wound.

SF's fire elemental, drow chainfighter and Othkurik began to move up together, staying near the top of the map. I took turns moving up with my phantom knights. TinyBruce reformed his units and the wyvern and spiders pressed upwards using the bridge near the top of the map. SF's chainfighter moved into the ice territory from the north, trying to swing around to engage my GIE, who now was pressed up against the largest glacier. My phantom knights moved in first and engaged the chainfighter. Othkurik then acid spit my phantom, who was adjacent to the chainfighter and GIE. My phantom died, and my GIE also took a wound (her chainfighter dodged the attack).

Meanwhile, TinyBruce had his wyvern snatch up SF's fire elemental and landed him in the water, quickly killing it due to its negative element (Awesome Move!). Next, the wyvern flew up, picked up SF's chainfighter and dropped him next to my GIE. My GIE's Ice Spikes failed, but it was a clever tactic. The wyvern then killed the chainfighter.

The rest of the game ran pretty quickly. Othkurik spit on my GIE, killing him in one shot ( I whiffed on defense). I was the first eliminated from the game.

TinyBruce moved his roman legion, along with Marcus Decimus, up along the top engaging and killing Othkurik. They then moved on and surrounded the feral troll, making short work him (Five decent attacks is devastating against a defense of 1).

The water elemental put up no fight but Isamu managed to kill all 4 Legionnaires before falling to the blad of Marcus Decimus Gallus.

TinyBruce won, with a good bit of his army intact. His strong use of bonding with the wyvern and spiders, Axegrinders and Darrak, and the legionnaires and Marcus, led to a definitive win. The MVP was certainly the wyvern with two very clever Talon Grabs.

I'll continue to post our matches. Any suggestions about how to improve battle descriptions or the formatting of the descriptions is appreciated!

Pictures always help visualize the battle. Its sometimes hard to balance brevity and thoroughness in a battle report. Keep trying and see what works for you. In my thread, some of the battle reports are really short and others just seem to drag on forever. Ckeck out the Special 3 Way Battle with Hahma for a general idae of our typical format.

I enjoyed the read, SporktheSloth. I love reading about now the new wave of figures are fielded, both good and bad, so thanks for sharing. The map looks pretty cool as well!

How did the Wyvern move the elemental onto a different level space?

The Wyvern flew into the water, and then placed the fire elemental beside him.

..and I agree, it was probably the best move of the game.
