Gee, that guy really hates Deadliest Warrrior . My brothers and I find Deadliest Warrior entertaining, but by no means educational (the most you really learn from that show is what a sword does to a pig). We are all into history so we know a lot about each warrior already but also ever since I heard one of the "ninjas" was actually an actor. I also think it is ridiculous that they would have an episode with Saddam Hussein and Pol Pot considering both were very evil men and neither was a frontlines warrior or real fighter at all and it seems like they just use the episode to generate controversy and media attention for the show.

All in all, lots of what was mentioned in the article I've been aware of already, but I still watch the show because I think it can be pretty entertaining and my brothers and I try to predict who will win. (But honestly, how does a Persian Immortal beat a Celt?)

I'm going to go with Napoleon. I bet, with both teams having firearms, that this will be a squad-on-squad battle, and Napoleon's men are better equipped, fed, and trained. Heck, Washington's guys didn't even have shoes.
There is considerable debate as to how good of a general Washington was. There is documented evidence of him not being too keen strategically in the French-Indian War. Washington was a great leader (notice I didn't say general) because of his great tenacity, fearlessness, and quite a bit of luck. I'm pretty sure Napolean could out-general Washington though.

Agreed. Zombies are too dumb. Even in a 5 v. 5 battle, the vampires's intelligence will catapault them to victory.
Well, ummm, I guess it depends on interpretation? Since I have no verifiable or even debatable evidence either way, I can't really comment.

HANNIBAL RODE AN ELEPHANT! Exactly! Horses are scared to death of elephants and I'd like to see the Khan try to pull of his fancy manuevers when his horse is crapping his pants about Hannibal's elephant. Those war elephants were fearsome and that alone will get Hannibal the winning edge.
Yes, but the Kahn's troops were masters of horseback archery, especially while (apparently) retreating. Hit + run tactics will take out elephants every time, because when elephants get wounded, they were well documented to lose their $#!&. That's why most successful generals stopped using them.

Not ever going to root for Saddam Hussein. He's a coward who surrendered as soon as he was found. Pol Pot at least could fight to protect his name and he wasn't executed, either.
Pol Pot if we're talking army tactics, Saddam in a mano-a-mano fight.

I'm going to say Lawrence of Arabia here. He's from WWI so I bet he has more technology and he has fought in pitched battles, just like Teddy, so with equal experience but better tech Lawrence'll win. Think of him as WWI's Indiana Jones.
Umm... Teddy was there for most (if not all) of WWI as well, I believe. We're talking about men whose primes were twenty, maybe thirty years apart. Not too much technology changes, really. Besides, Lawrence was more a master of tactics than technology.

I would agree that Lawrence would win a battle over Teddy, but if we're talking a fight between the two of them, I've gotta give this one to Teddy with his black belt in Karate and years of boxing experience (plus his well-documented stamina in the face of injury, hardship, and sickness).

I think more the issue comes from the selection of weapons that are not even appropriate coupled with the fact that the "simulation" engine is from a crappy game.

Those were hilarious! I watched a bunch of the first season, it was entertaining. But a lot of the "tests" were just too dumb, and all the trash talk was too freaking annoying.

And hey, there's doubts that ninja ever even existed, so it can't really be historically accurate at all. And of course a pirate will beat a knight, knights became obsolete because of guns. Without even reading the articles, you can use common sense to show how stupid the show is!!

But they were great reads! I wanna get that Rome game and do my own Deadliest Warrior, haha!

No, you really don't. If you want a good game that involves Rome and massive battles, you want this...

Re: Season 3 of Deadliest Warrior

Comedy Central leaked Joan of Arc vs. William the Conqueror and George Washington vs. Napoleon on their website - the entire episode from start to finish. That's all I'm saying...
Don't watch it if you don't want anything spoiled.

Re: Season 3 of Deadliest Warrior

Agreed with jschild. This is a dumb show and the 'computer simulations' are total crap...that said, the show still is awesome if you're a guy. I hate the trash talking; I just watch it for the decimation of pigs and gel torsos, along with the ending battle.

Re: Season 3 of Deadliest Warrior

Its a silly show, but it is fun to watch. Once you watch battles of Mafia vs Yakuza and Vlad the Impaler vs Sun Tzu, its hard to take it seriously. Of course, this is on a forum from a game that puts together dragons, samurai, mythological creatures, kyrie, vipers, intelligent gorillas, aliens, elementals, soulborgs, agents from the future...

Well, to all the naysayers, the new Season is trying to appear more scientific. I watched the leaked episodes, and let me tell you, once you watch the new season, you won't be saying what you all just said.

Re: Season 3 of Deadliest Warrior

I for one am really excited for this season. My friends and I love to argue over the results even if it has little to no educational value.

That said, they probably do quite a lot more testing than they let on. In a season one episode they say "after 3 days of solid testing" indicating that it's much more in depth than they show. I'm sure they just air the highlights because that's what viewers really want to see.

Re: Season 3 of Deadliest Warrior

I enjoy the show just for its pure entertainment value. The one thing I noticed however, was that for almost every episode (there are some exceptions) the edges are tied, it doesn't matter which is better, but it keeps the mystery as to who will win. Sometimes the tests, I think, are altered to give the edge to a certain group. My biggest example is when they tested the grenades for Green Berets versus Spetsnaz. The Green Berets' just had to kill three people that were right next to the grenade, while the Spetsnaz' blew up an entire washing machine but failed to kill people several yards away.

Just a few complaints, but I find it entertaining so I am definitely watching the new season.

Re: Season 3 of Deadliest Warrior

Well, last night the Season aired.

For those of you who want the ending of George Washington vs. Napoleon spoiled,

George Washington
Spoiler Alert!

Napoleon
Spoiler Alert!

It was the closest of battles, the winner bein victorious only by 50.6% of all the simulated battles run. Next week, Joan of Arc vs. William the Conqueror!
