Re: Florida Frenzy 5.0

I'm actually glad you got this page up so soon because I apparently didn't get the Heroscape out of my system and have been thinking of armies since.

In any case, one thing I was thinking of was to have an approved list of customs that are acceptable to bring. This would sort of simulate a new wave of figures and give us some new blood to spill.

I know Filthy has some interesting ones, or we could go with the CHCG24/SOV/etc. crew as a place to pick figs from, or even nominate various characters that we would approve on a case by case basis. Though it would probably be easier to simply go with a whole set, approving them ourselves opens things up to a bunch of new armies.

If we decide to go this route, I think it would be acceptable to bring similar sized and shaped figs as proxies if we are unable to get the real ones.

So what do you guys think?

Re: Florida Frenzy 5.0

I like your idea and look forwards to FF5.0. I hope to make it, but I'm unsure, it being several months away. Anyways, I would appreciate having new figures to use.

Our suggestion is that sand and rock count as double movement. I think most will find the movement a challenge for their favorite army build. Essentially it makes the battlefield longer without taking up more space.. Think about it and post any concerns or suggestions to this...

We've played this way before and it is a fun new challenge. The biggest issue it raises is that melee end up struggling more against range than usual. Closing the distance becomes harder for them as they are being shot up.

It is a fun variant and we've used it, but that's one word of warning as well.

I'm not sure this is the best idea for a tournament format as these are timed games. As it is, there are always games that don't get finished before time runs out and making them last longer seems detrimental. And I agree with 1Mmirg in that this would further screw melee units against range and fliers. An all range army could clean up before the other army made it across the board.

Those are my thoughts on the subject.

Not a bad suggestion, but of course it would depend on what maps are chosen. I think it would be easier to just include a "heavy snow/slippery ice" map or two, because that is an official, understood rule and we have not had much snow at tournaments.

Please post maps you want to see!

I think burny your idea of just having one or two maps with the snow and/or ice would be great. I wasn't thinking every map would use this rule of movement.

Re: Florida Frenzy 5.0

I personally think it would be a fun switch up to, instead of using new customs, the point total might be up somewhere around 550 or 575. Or some specialty type of game, such as Heat of Battle, Slugfest, Heroes Only, or something along those lines.

Re: Florida Frenzy 5.0

I'd rather just play a standard 500 point tournament.

Re: Florida Frenzy 5.0

I agree with Nicktheant, as the last two FF's have been less than 500 points.
