10am-11am: Registration and Map Setup
11am sharp: First round begins
4pm: Championship Round and Map Teardown

(No formal lunch break, but food is allowed in the game room. Please, plan accordingly.)

Rules
1) 500 Point Armies (bring your own dice, order markers, and wound markers)
2) "Faction Wars" - Only figures from a single general allowed in an army.
3) No Major Q9, Raelin (RotV), or Deathreavers allowed.
4) No Marvel figures.

4 Swiss Rounds
Matches between armies of the same faction will be avoided.

Faction Championships
Top 2 players for each faction are matched.
Winners of this round are declared their faction's champion.

Swiss Round for all other players.

Tournament Championship (around 4pm)
Tournament Leader vs. Challenger
Tournament Leader = Faction champion with best overall Swiss record.
Challenger = Faction champion with the second best overall Swiss record unless:
-----1) That player was previously defeated by the Tournament Leader AND
-----2) A Faction Champion with an identical W-L record that was never defeated by the Tournament Leader exists.

All others tear down maps.

Map Selection
Every HeroScapers member attending the event is requested to bring terrain to build one BOV map of their choice.

Process
1) Go to the BOV thread and select a map that you can build from terrain you own.

2) Post your map selection to this thread. (Unannounced maps will not be allowed at the tournament.)

3) Bring your terrain to Just for Fun on the day of the event and set it up before 11am when the tournament starts. (Just for Fun opens at 10am on Saturday.)

Notes
-----Don't have enough terrain for a map? No problem! Let me know and I'll make sure we have enough maps so you can participate.
-----If you are bringing friends, you are requested to select one additional map per two friends you bring.
-----If you bring an unannounced map, your terrain will be used to build either an announced map or Turret Rocks.
-----All maps must be selected by October 2 (two weeks before the event).


Glyphs
Most maps in the BOV include glyphs. If you select a map that calls for specific glyphs, please, bring them and include them when you construct your map. Maps that have locations for unknown glyphs will have the glyphs randomly drawn from a pool containing an equal number of the following:

Dagmar (+8 Initiative)
Wannok (Wound)
Valda (+2 Move)
Lodin (+1 D20)
Astrid (+1 Attack)
Ulanlva (+1 Unique Attack)
Nilrend (Negate)
Kelda (Heal)
Erland (Summoning)
Oreld (Intercept Order)

After the glyphs have been placed on the map, the players will flip them power-side up so that they can plan their strategy before placing their armies in their starting zones.


Details on Final Rankings

Faction Champion Rankings
To qualify for the tournament championship, you must be a Faction Champion, meaning that you won your 5th round. Since we are breaking from Swiss format for that round, it is not unlikely that someone's SoS could decrease relative to others if the only other players in the faction are weak. Since I do not think this should be penalized, rankings of Faction Champions will be based on "overall Swiss record," meaning the first 4 rounds of the tournament.

Sole Players of a Faction
One more exception to the rule is individuals who are the sole player of their faction. This situation will be handled as follows:

1) Sole players of a faction are automatically declared their Faction Champion.

2) On the 5th round, sole faction players will be matched up against any other sole faction player from another faction. The winner of the match will be considered for the Tournament Championship round, while the other is removed from consideration.

3) If there are an odd number of sole faction players, the odd one out will be matched against the highest ranked Swiss player who is not participating in a faction championship. A win for the sole faction player earns them the right to be considered for the Tournament Championship round, while a loss removes the player from consideration.

Non-Faction Champion Rankings
Non-Faction Champions are ranked based on all 5 rounds, however, if a player participated in a Faction Championship match, that player will always be ranked at least one slot higher than a player of the same faction who did not go to the Faction Championship.

There are none in the BOV thread, but that seems like a reasonable request. Find a map or two that look good and post them here to get people's opinions. If we can find maps we can agree on, I'd be open to allowing them. I'd favor symmetrical maps of comparable size to the BOV maps.
