I hope I'm at the point now after the change to Surtur's defense down to 6 and D20 roll for Twilight Sword up to 12 that it might be good to move on.

I ran 4 tests after the change:

Surtur (800) vs. Superman I and C3G Silver Surfer (800)

Game 1 - Surtur wins with 10 wounds on T3R3

Game 2 - Silver Surfer wins with 2 wounds on T1R4 (Surtur missed all d20 rolls for Twilight Sword)


Surtur (800) vs. Hasbro Hulk and Thor (800)

Game 1 - Hulk wins with 5 wounds on T6R2

Game 2 - Surtur wins with 8 wounds on T6R2


I'll do the Gorilla City Warriors test again (they beat him when he had defense of 7) and the Shield Agents again (he beat them and now they might have a better chance with his defense down to 6).

Then I will do some tests with him vs. 800 point armies with mid-levels and some with mid-levels and squad bonding. Then I will have Surtur as part of a larger army against a big army.

I'm going to take this slowly as I kind of need to do some other stuff with my free time or I'll start feeling the burn. I've been getting a lot of units done lately so I think a slower down period should be fine as I'm caught up on waves for quite a while.

I like to be extra careful/thorough with big guys like this too, so keep plugging away.

He's looking like a lot of fun so far! If you feel like he's still coming in just a bit too powerful, you might consider dropping his life to 13.

I updated the SP with the change to 6 defense (from 7) and bump up of d20 from 9+ to 12+.

Ran him against Shield Agents x 7 last night and Agents won with 10 of 21 remaining. He rolled bad defense and they were hitting 2 and 3 skull rolls a good bit. He missed one normal attack with a terrible roll and his only Intense Heat attempt vs. 2 Agents failed to kill either one of them. Had things been "normal" dice wise, he may have taken out 5 or 6 more in that game.

I started writing up the test sheet with that squad test on it and the two tests vs. Supes/Surfer and the two tests with Hulk/Thor after changes made. I won't have HH tests so to speak, but the above tests vs. 2 HH will kind of be army tests vs. HH's.

I'm lowering Surtur's d20 roll by a lot because if Brainiac can nerf any unit with a 4+ then Surtur should be able to have a better chance than a 12+.

I think we are used to setting realistic powers for Unique Heroes, and that carries over into our Event Heroes at times when it shouldn't. By all means, lower that D20 and show all those units the meaning of "Event Hero". Go nuts buddy, just go nuts!

Brainiac issue aside, it sounds like he's mostly having a tough time with crowd control ... is that something we should address? Possibly up the area of effect on Intense Heat and give it a new name (is Hellfire taken?).

Yeah, I kept checking to make sure Event Heroes could be shrunk, even a 1,000 foot tall fire demon can be shrunk to an itsy bitsy firefly! So I'll drop the d20 for Twighlight Sword to at least make it more consistent. Besides, if he's facing several heroes (more than just Hulk and Thor or Supes and Surfer) negating 1 mid-level's power isn't as big a deal.

Yeah, that might help with the squaddies. I mean I dropped his defense to 6 from 7 so the squaddies have a chance and they certainly do. I want to see some fried damn Gorillas! The problem also is that on Broken Skyline or any map with walls, Surtur can't use Intense Heat vs. a figure 10+ levels high, so that hurt him against Brainiac.

I've got to test Lockheed this weekend, so I'll put Surtur on the back burner for awhile and start fresh with some tweaks when I can.
