Where can I get figures for customs?
I've never completed a custom unit before, but I may in the future. I'd like to know where I can get good figures for custom units. I am a terrible painter, but I know some people who could help with that. I just need to know where to buy figures on the same scale as 'Scape figures.

Re: Where can I get figures for customs?
Check the spoilers on this thread for links to several sites that sell minis. Auggie's is a site sponsor with great shipping rates, so I'd suggest checking him first for the DnD and Star Wars minis.

Re: Where can I get figures for customs?
I've ordered oodles of D&D minis of late for our customs projects. I've relied heavily on Auggie's, but have also bought lots and lots from BeholderTheBargains, and recommend them HIGHLY. Auggie's has slightly better prices, but BeholderTheBargains has better selection, and is still cheaper than CoolStuff, Troll & Toad, or any other place I've found. Particularly when you factor in shipping: Auggie's and BeholderTheBargains both charge a flat $2.95, regardless of how big or small the order, which is just an amazing deal.
Auggie's is a household name around here, and most deservedly. But few seem to know about BeholderTheBargains yet, which is a shame. |

Re: Where can I get figures for customs?
Keep your eyes open for potential customs. They're all around you. I've created customs from prepainted figures from other games, from figures pirated from boardgames, from figures in toy departments, even figures from gumball machines! Go to Walmart and get some craft paint and brushes. Painting isn't that hard, and in small doses is even pretty satisfying. (I've lost count of the multiple thousands of figures I've painted since I was in 7th grade and started wargaming.)
Not one step backwards! |

Also, remember that if you screw up modding a figure, you can repaint it and call it an undead. Works surprisingly well, actually.
