ValleyDwellers III: New Vahallian War(pics & report p.5)
It looks like it will be a good time for another Valley Dwellers event in Tracy, CA. CAMPAIGN GUIDELINES, ALLIANCES, AND MAPS ARE PROVIDED BELOW.
THE DATE: Saturday July 28th THE TIME: 11:00 - 4:30ish LOCATION: HobbyTown USA, Tracy, CA Stuff to bring: Yourself CAMPAIGN MAP Potential Teams: Jandar/Ullar/Einar VS Utgar/Vydar -1more heroscaper........Satyr -Garden Gnome.............Morningstar -Grim............................Alastair -Aloenzo........................Malechi -Mrs.1more....................? Attendees that feel the need to study before you show up, please refer to the guidelines for the last war: http://heroscapers.com/community/sho...d.php?p=178872 -Revisions/Adjustments for this Campaign Event: 1. 600 point battles for non-castle maps. 400(defender) vs. 600(attacker) for castle maps. 2. Each map has 180-210 popints of pre-assigned figures that will be used by each player--figures assigned based on alignment. Castle maps do not have pre-assigned figures for the defender. 3. Each player maintains a 400 point army from a pre-drafted army pool of 2000 points per player. Used for the replacement of destroyed units. -This time I have recreated most of the maps and the castles. I have eleminated the castle interior wellsping, and replaced it with a wellspring mountain pass! -Also, I would like to continue the diminishing commons and uniques for each players drafted armies, but I would like to introduce default defending armies. Thanks to the last Norcal Tourney event, I like the idea of have armies preset for specific maps. So, I decided to run with the idea of specific common based defending armies for all terrritories. These armies will NOT have dimishing commons--their ranks will always be refilled. ARMY CARDS AVAILABLE FOR PLAY ALL UNIQUE HEROES AND SQUADS: Master Set Through Wave 7 (including exclusives) After default armies have been selected, here are the remaining common squads/heroes available for the draft. Depending on the date, I may use it as an excuse to visit my girl, again.
Of course, I cannot go any point between/near June 22 - July 7 as I will be on the other coast ... Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.

Last go around with your epic campaign was a blast!
Valleydwellers II: Epic Battle of All Time ... for easy reference I'm up for another day in the Valley. I'm gonna have to check with Morning Star about free days ... she has me chained to a few projects around the house and I know she will want to join in the fun. Your going to need to elaborate a bit about the default defending armies ... we establish a core of commons and then draft heroes and other support units? How does that work with the concept of filling in the ranks before declaring a battle. Is this a fixed army the ignores the one hero / one life conecpt? Cry endgame and let slip the doggin of war. |

Elaborations... For each map, as a gaming group we would come up with Good and Evil defending armies for all maps...similar to how Alastair had assigned armies to the maps in the last tourney. If the defending army is either good or evil will depend on who owns the territory when it is being attacked. I think all the cards for the defending armies should be common. If we do decide on unique figures...we can discuss any exception to eliniating uniques--used in the last event. As for attacking armies, we would run it the same as the last event. Instead the defender has to use the preset defending army for the specific map--this allows the attacker the advantage to know the defending army ahead of time--due to scouting. Interesting! So are you thinking:
1) A single common unit defending ... e.g. all Romans? or 2) A mix of common units ... e.g. Romans & 4th Mass? I'm thinking a mix may be necessary to provide a combination of range and melee. If it is a mix, the ratio of squads should probably remain fixed. Can a defending common squad also be included in the draft pool? I like the concept that all of a common squad is tied-up defending and would NOT be available ... especially if there are an unlimited number of them ... but I need to look at how that would effect the number of ranged units available. I'm in favor of allowing a single unique hero as the leader ... Can you say Marcus. If the leader gets assassinated, can it be replaced from the rest of your drafted units? Can he be resurrected and put back in his leadership role? Oh, and a big question what are the alliances this time around? Vydar mercs ??? Cry endgame and let slip the doggin of war. |

1) No, not a single set of commons, they can be mixed allowing for a balance melee/range defense. 2) Yes, and one of the possible defending armies for the alliance. 3) I think that a common squad that is used for a defending army should still be available for the attacking draft pool with a certain limitation of units available--where diminishing commons applies. This should still allow for some versatility in the attacking armies. 4) If the leader of a defending army is assassinated, he/she can be re-summoned using some of a player's re-summoning points from the teams' point bank. Maybe a limit of two deaths per unique leader? 5) If a team decides NOT to re-summon a figure, they can appoint a new leader from any of the army pools for the team. 6) Alliances: The Resurgence of the Free Vahallian Alliance vs. Utgarian Empire, and yes, Vydar units are now mercenaries. If you recall, Heretic, the Vydar General from the last war, started to express discontent towards Utgar's Arrogance. Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege. I like limiting the number of times a unit can be resurrected. For that matter we could further limit (disallow) cross drafting between team members. Last time I think I was the only one to draft from a team member's pool of units. Quote:

With Vydar being mercenaries I recommend that they are predrafted by each side before the event. So both sides are not fighting over Q-9 the day of........
