Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD '09

Maps are built, armies are assembled, practice games have ended, I'm ready to roll for real!

I think that games start at 11, so I'm planning on getting to Game Kastle around 10:30 for set-up.

Our armies are done but no time to practice this week!

Yeah I think I'll shoot for 10:30 too...I'm going to be up tonight late doing my "radio" show so the extra 30 minutes sleep won't hurt.

PS: We made enough of the "custom glyphs" for everyone to take one...but I think we better let the kids pick first...maybe youngest to oldest...

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD '09

Sorry to report I won't be able to stop by. I'd only be able to hang out for 10 minutes, and it would turn my 1-1/2 to 2 hour bus ride home from class into a 3 to 4 hour ride.

Take plenty of pictures to share with us vicarious goers!

That's a bummer. We'll have to try to schedule something for Winter Break.

I'm out the door. I'll see everyone in an hour and a half!

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD '09

Here's a group shot...Not quite everyone who attended. But anyway I did as well as I had hoped with 3-3 at the end of the day. And I played all 6 matches with my all elf wizard army (6 unique heroes.) C-boy went 1-3 but he was thrilled to finally play in an entire tourney. We took home a MS1 as a prize!

The prize table wasn't really set up for photos but I had to get a shot of the NorCal trophy (which went to cmgames, congrats!)

Thanks Ronin, Game Kastle, WotC for the MS & everyone there was a good sport!

Ditto what Killz said. Great Tournament! Congratulations to cmgames on winning first place.

This was a complete blast! It was totally awesome meeting all of you. GeneralGrievous12 and I had a great time and we both look forward to doing this again very soon. Thanks RoninValentina for putting on such a great event! Also, thanks to Game Kastle for hosting our event and thanks to WOTC for the prize support.

Pictures coming soon...

I should have brought Alastair! Why?!

I had a great time. Didn't do as well as I would have liked, but I blame it all my lack of Alastair. But you win some and you lose some. Gives me something to aspire to next time. Big grats to CMgames, the Isamu Killer. You earned that trophy.

I think Menchi you gave me a pasting in our match. I don't think I can re-create any good battle reports...Maybe Ronin can mail us back our sheets if we give him mailing addies.

Re: Bay Area Brawl - NHSD '09

Thanks Ronin! I was grinning all the way home (and not just 'cause I won). I had so much fun today! I never get to play Heroscape as much as I want to - and I got to play all day long! And all of it at such a high level of competition - it was great!

A couple of the maps really stood out for me and I thought they should get special mention. Viper Valley was a really tough map to move around on, but really well designed to balance out the ranged vs. melee problem. And Rift Valley, with the 7 hexes of Lava Fields in the start-zone and the highest ground being Lava Fields really made me pay extra attention to my order marker placement right from the get-go.

I look forward with eager anticipation to the next chance to lose (or successfully defend) the title of NorCal Heroscape Champion.
