Re: A Wave 2 Themed Army

I might also suggest Khosumet and WoB with Minions. Your Wolves would act as body guards for the Minions as they all move up the field with Khosumet. And then once they arrive: BOOM. This is theoryscape though, so you may want to proxy test it first.

Minions x2 220
WoB x2 380
Khosumet 455
Marcu 475
Dumutef 500

I am familiar with all the knight and minutemen themed armies that are so popular, so I was more looking at how I could use my Wolves of Badru (from wave and their darklord bonding. Here is an army idea I came up with, those of you who already own all the figures used can tell me if it's any good.

Wolves of Badru (x2) - 160 : Darklord bonding, Relentless
Khosumet the Darklord - 75 : Relentless Assault +1, Unleashed Fury +1
Anubian Wolves - 75 : Relentless, Devourer, Unleashed Fury
Dumutef Guard (x2) - 50 :Relentless, Devourer Attack +1
Krug - 120 : Relentless, Double Attack
Marcu Esenwien - 20 : Devourer, Fast Flier,

500 total

The Wolves of Badru bond with Khosumet, allowing me to move Khosumet to move into attacking position first. Then I can pounce any enemies adjacent to Khosumet to take advantage of the Relentless Assault Bonus for an attack of 6 by my wolves.

If adjacent to Khosumet, his Relentless Assault Enhancement also benefits Krug (double attack of 3 + wound markers), The Dumutef Guard (attack of 5 +1 if on a road tile), and the Anubian Wolves (Attack of 3-10). Plus Khosumet's Unleashed Fury Enhancement also keeps the Anubian wolves from killing themselves.

The Dumetef Guards' Devourer Attack Enhancement can also boost the Arubian Wolves attack up as well as Marcu Esenwein's attack (base attack of 4 +1 per adjacent guard, potential attack of 6).

Due to Marcu Esenwein high move of 7 plus flying, he would make a good glyph grabber for additional bonuses too.

Now I realise you would never be able to take advantage of all these bonuses by everyone, but on paper it seems like their is potential for rolling a lot of attack dice. Armies or figures that rely on high defense would have much to fear.

Anyone tried anything similar?
my friend slaughters me with it and i do to all recamend Krug.

Re: A Wave 2 Themed Army

I have a couple ideas for you that are mostly wave 2 based...

A VERY effective knights army...

110 - Alastair Macdirk
030 - Eldgrim
100 - Sir Denrick
210 - Knights x3
150 - Major Q10

This was a 600pt game that my friend Torog and I played, for a 500pt game, just drop Sir Denrick since I used him mostly for his "Giant killer" ability.

All of your order markers go on the knights until the endgame. Eldgrim grabs a glyph and the Knights + Alastair (and Denrick in a 600pt game) swarm across the map. This army dominated in the game I played.

The second army is more wolf based...

300 - Anubian Wolves x4
075 - Khosumet
075 - Dumutef x3
050 - Marro Warriors

I haven't tried this one but I believe it would be very effective after I did play a 400 point game where I used a similar build...

300 - Anubian Wolves x4
075 - James Murphy
020 - Marcu Esenwein

James Murphy never left the start zone and Marcu died in the first round. The Anubians literally killed my opponents entire army. And I was up against...

110 - Airborne Elite
280 - 4th Mass. x4

Granted there was a lot of jungle trees on the map which gave me a defensive edge but even without Khosumet my wolves performed beautifully. People so often underestimate a move of 6 coupled with a defense of 4. I see the Wolves as a Melee version of the Marro Stingers. If you want them to be effective you have to use 3 or more of them and you have to play smart. Even when you're down to 3 or less wolves they can still be a threat, one good D20 roll and that last remaining wolf can single handedly kill Q9 or Nilfheim. They are underdog characters (pardon the pun)

The last army is similar to the wolf Army but its based on the Minions...

330 - Minions of Utgar x3
040 - Theracus
080 - Finn the Viking Champion
050 - Marro Warriors

This one has good synergy despite its looks. The 3 squads of Minions are your main force which will be getting most of your order markers.

The Theracus + Finn combo has several uses in this army. You can use Theracus+Finn to attack (an attack of 4 with Finn's Aura) and/or tie up some strong ranged units so that your Minions can get close. You can also use Theracus to position Finn where your Minions can move adjacent to him to gain his +1 attack aura for their deadly strike. If Theracus+Finn dies you can put Finn's spirit on your Marro Warriors.

The Marro Warriors can be used either in the beginning of the game if your opponent has mostly melee and you want to take high ground; but they are best used as your final attack force after Finn has died and his spirit is giving them extra attack.

I've used armies with Minions x3 as the base before and I know that this one would be effective.
