Raud's actually do have some foliage on the bottom that are made from aquarium plants. (Well at least the ones he gave me do.)

Onacara, How do they look next to the original stuff? I don't have a jungle set yet.

Lord Pyre, small aquarium plants are great. Check for sales at big pet stores or Wal Mart.

They are totally different...but the handmade trees look incredible...I have seen yours and Grish's in person and they are amazing. I am going to have to finally make my own for the permanent maps I am going to make this spring/summer. It is going to make it alot easier for me to have a finished one to use as a reference point.

PS: I missed seeing the guard tower when I was there and am kicking myself now for it.

Hey man. im kinda new to heroscape but how do you make the bases on your custom figures? Those are the best ive seen out of all the ones on this site

If you mean my custom figures, the bases are actual Heroscape bases that have been cannibalized.

Not to threadjack too much, but what do you have in store for permanent maps? I assume there will be a certain amount of custom work involved, that will be making the map permanent, and I'm very curious to what you were thinkin of.

New Stuff! - 1-8

Stone Fences:

This was the prototype that got me started. I originally wanted this to be made out of one piece. I decided to make them in two parts instead.


Here you can see the individual pieces ready to be textured in my custom texture machine. The texturing came from some lava rocks from the landscaping.


I cut each piece with my hot wire foam cutter to get nice uniform pieces. Then I carved them up with an exacto.


Here are two pieces after being textured and before I glued them together.


All the pieces are glued together and now they get an under coat of black.


One set of fences. Two long and four short.




In this shot you can see that the foam seems to have a texture. I've been using a textured spray paint that adds a nice slight roughness to the foam surface. After the black undercoat, I drybrushed with med grey and then highlighted with cream.

Looking great, I have plans to attempt some foam fences like that, and you inspired me to try it soon. After some Nerak repaint first!

I'm surprised I haven't seen your custom trees made from wire and paper clay sooner. Jaw dropping. I will be back in the shop (living room) next week inspired to create thanks to awesome threads like yours and a very
supportive Heroscape community. Keep it up Raudulfr.

Hey man I love all your customs but this one seems to bother me for some reason, I think if I were to go for like an indian jones type I would wanna make the temples bigger. lol maybe it's because I'm picky with proportions, but other than the temples I love the walls and towers you make and your tree making skills astound me man!

Don't think of them as pyramids per se...think of them as pyramid shaped monuments of a much smaller size.
