Two castle sieging questions.

Question #1: Okay so the castle rules state that whoever controls the door can open it anytime he wants. So me and my friend were playing a game and he opened the door, shot Krug, who was hacking at the gate, shot him with Omnicrons, and then shut the gate. He did this several times. I say that's stupid. Anybody else?

Question #2: We need good stats for a siege ladder. We tried 4 life, 4 def., and reinforced defense (like the door). This was too hard. Any ideas?

I wish we could get an army of dwarves, fully armed and filthy.

And it sure makes holding that #4 castle spot oh so important for such tactics.
It's a tough life for siege-castle wannabes.

I think that its not only unrealistic, but also extremely cheap. It should be outlawed!

All the more reason to find a way to DESTROY THE DOOR!
But yeah, you're right it can swing open and close like a screen door on a windy day. Not much fun when Omnicrons are firing on your Troll. But then again...WOUNDED SMASH!!!

I think opening and closing the door like that is exactly what the game designers intended in the rules. I may be wrong, of course, but I do think that is what is intended.

When I read this thread, I thought "surely not". But that's exactly what the rules say - if you're in control of a figure whioch occupies that space, you get to open and close the door whenever you want. I guess that if the designers had meant o say "on that figure's turn", they would have.

cavie Woo who?
We've made a house rule that if it is a squad member opening/closing the door, that member can't attack on the turn they open the door. We decided it was a pretty heavy door (at 10 life) to move.

What about if someone is adjacent to the door(engage) you wouldn't be able to close the door. I feel that if I'm engaged with the door & you open it to let a friendly in. In reality I should be able to get in to

I was going to post what jdtenor did.

if someone is adjacent to the door you can open it but not close it that turn. That way the guy on teh outside would get achance to rush in if he wants. If he doesn't then you can shut it next turn.

But I don't ahve the castles yet, so I am speculating.

Teamski is surprisingly tart
Personally, I'm fine with the rule. Just make sure you are out of LOS when they open it up, i.e. use range to destroy it if you have to. Jut make sure you give the attacker an adequate force ratio....
