DOOM video game customs



My inspiration is from this thread. It's phenomenal stuff, check it out. It's a shame Yann265 hasn't got on for 5 years, I'd love to see his DOOM custom cards (if he has any).

I've had an idea for a while of doing DOOM customs, from the id software game Doom. That's where I got my screenname, after all .They made a Doom board game a while back with a ton of unpainted miniatures in it that are sized perfectly for 'scape. Eventually, I'd like to buy a set and attempt painting them . Until then, I thought I'd come up with some stats and powers for the monsters. I haven't point-costed anybody yet, I'll wait until I get the UAC Marine's power level finalized.

I plan to make glyphs with weapons and limited ammo, similar to what Yann265 did. I'll use his print-outs, actually, since they are already there. The UAC Marine will just have a low ranged attack and disengage likely. The weapons will give him complexity. The Marine will be the toughest design of Doom, I think.

The Monsters are simplistic, and I think they need to be if they will swarm. The DOOM board game comes with 3 (!) Cyberdemons and 6 Arch-viles (in addition to the slew of other monsters), so I wanted to make them weaker so Doomguy would only have trouble if more than one showed up.

If anyone is interested, I would love to make this a group project. If not, feedback is appreciated. Comments are awesome

Re: DOOM video game customs

Yesterday I thought up some Weapons and Items designs, and I figured I would post Doomguy. I'm sure the wording could use a fix on most of these, but these will stay in my casual games so it isn't a huge deal.

I'm not totally happy with the Doomguy design. He's simplistic, which works since he'll be getting a lot of bonuses like Armor and Weapons. If anyone has any ideas besides Disengage for the Marine, I'd love to hear them.

The weapon and item glyphs were pretty easy to make. In the true spirit of the games, they have a limited ammo count. Pickups such as extra ammo will be on the maps. Playtesting will show how much ammo is right for each weapon.

A couple more bad guys today. The demons work together pretty well, with limited order marker management. The undead are a different story, requiring their own order markers and swarming as a pack. The revenants work well with no one and blow stuff up, including their own demon allies. However, it might be worth it to take down a Marine.

Ideally, a Doom game would be played with 5 people. 3 guys control a Marine each, and the other 2 control the Monsters. One gets the Undead, other gets the Demons. Or they can switch it up and divide it how they wish. It's been fun coming up with ideas, there are a few more minis that the board game includes, but they are new Doom 3 monsters. I've never played 3, so It'll be interesting to see what powers those guys have.
