Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
I've been play testing many armies recently, I must say I had great success with this one
Braxas-210 PTS GSW X2-120 PTS Black Wyrmling X2-60 PTS Rhogar DragonSpine-110 PTS 500 PTS; 11 Hexes The GSW have enough move to keep up with Braxas and can engage any problems you may see for Braxas. (Hard hitting small/medium heros and large/huge figures.) In my experience the GSW have been able to hold those troublesome figure off long enough for Braxas to wreck havoc on all squad figures. Bring up the Wyrmlings to chip away damage at small/medium heros (or finish off remaining squad members) Rhogar for clean up/remove some wounds off Braxas. I was debating dropping the Wyrmlings for another squad of Greenies, but the Wyrmlings have proved themselves to be a valuable asset, especially against ranged heros like syvarris. Braxas is usually too caught up doing "her business" to waste an order marker or two to get to a figure potentially 9 spaces away, (and even then chances of killin syvarris with a D-20 roll are slim) whereas the Wyrmlings can make short work of him. |

Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
I think if you swapped Rhogar for KMA and otanashi/isamu it'd be stronger. Gives you a ranged threat as well.

Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
I particularly like pairing Braxas with the Axegrinders. Braxas wreaks havoc on small/medium while dwarves lay the hurt on large/huge, and can also act as a screen. A dwarf hero helps to kill enemy heroes, or whatever else might get in the way.
Braxas 210 Axegrinders x2 140 Migol Ironwill 110 Theracus 40 Total - 500 (13 hexes) Or... Braxas 210 Axegrinders x2 140 Mogrimm Forgehammer 120 30 pts. filler Total - 500 (11 hexes, plus filler) Or... Braxas 210 Axegrinders x3 210 Darrak Ambershard 60 Marcu, or both ninjas if you're feeling ambitious 20 Total - 500 (16-17 hexes) Last edited by Chill : August 6th, 2012 at 08:56 PM. Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
I think Raelin and a screen is a necessity when playing Braxas. She becomes a huge target and takes all fire when she is on the board. You have to let her take the punishment. My personal favorite Braxas army:
Braxas Kelda Raelin Rats x3 -------- 490 16 hexes Add whatever filler you need to get to your point total. It's a difficult to play army that can be devastating and frustrating for your opponent. It sucks so much when you get Braxas up to six or seven wounds, and then Kelda juices her right back up. Believe me, I've played against it quite a few times, and it really isn't fun. It's probably a bit stronger if you can drop Kelda for the Krav, but then it becomes more of Rat army than a Braxas army. |

Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
I know Braxas is a ranged threat, but what about after she falls? I know Rhogar is tough but I just felt that Krav Maga or somebody similar could help out that army better.

Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
I was actually thinking of dropping Rhogar and adding another hard hitting hero or as GTiger mentioned more range support. I was thinking sgt.drake (ROTV) or Kaemon awa. I just love Rhogar's healing ability tho, mvIn a recent game he was able to take 5 wounds off Braxas throughout the course of the game
Anyway drake with his thorian speed should be able to close the gap and tie down the ranged enemies until braxas arrives. Probably even take out a figure or two. That 6 attack is nothing to joke about. Using Kaemon is pretty self explanatory. Pelt your enemies from a far And if they start ro get close, him them with the special. In this situation I'd assume Kaemon to be better, his ranges threat and ability to take down heros is a great addition to this already potent army |

Re: Competitive Army: Braxas
But again without a cheerleader preferably Raelin or Kelda, Braxas becomes a giant target, this is where Rhogar was able to really shine. Aside from being a very well balanced character his ability to replenish life is the icing on the cake. Giving Braxas even a few extra wounds can be so fustrating for an opponent
~and I also like how it follows the whole " reptilian army" thing... Last edited by JNellZ22 : August 7th, 2012 at 09:01 PM. |
