He's not a crime lord, he more of a ridiculously massive beats-people-to-the-ground, breaks-batman's-back kinda villain.

There's reasons for his lack of hispanic accent and his new mask, don't worry. Have faith in Nolan, that's all you need to know.

Bane is definitely not a crime lord in the movie. I won't comment further than that. And you don't have to watch Batman Begins again to enjoy or understand this one, there are just several plot lines that connect the first and last installment together so having the first one fresh in your mind just makes the experience that much better.

On a side note, as I was watching Batman Begins last night I discovered that one of the figures we will be getting as part of the new C3G release was in that movie. Mister Zsasz was featured in the film in addition to Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul. I'm sure for most of you this is old news but not being all that familiar with the character prior to the last year or so, his inclusion was overlooked by me on previous viewings of the movie since I had not fully watched in over a year.

He shows up more than once. Early in the film they say his name during a court case, later you see him locked up rubbing the back of his neck and that is when you see a bunch of scars, then finally he is the one that pulls a knife on Rachel as she protects the kid in the Narrows.

Another thing I discovered while rewatching Batman Begins, is that the little boy in the narrows is the same actor that plays King Joffery in the Game of Thrones TV show.

I was initially disappointed in the choice of Bane, too - and Catwoman, because Catwoman is sort of lame - but between the hype of the movie, his awesome appearances in Young Justice, and the C3G unit, I'm all aboard the Bane Train.

Well CW was a given, seeing as they killed off the last girlfriend in Dark Knight so he needs a new girl.

Yeah, I knew about Zsasz, but my friend I had the marathon with didn't realize that was him, so that was cool.
