Re: How do you love C3G? Contest deadline extended to Feb. 2
All right here goes my submission. My original idea was to do a letter, short story, and a poem. After some thought I decided that it might be borderline, multiple submissions. So the letter is now just a few lines of thanks and the short story has become what I call a 'short intro' to C3G. The poem came out a bit different then I had planned and I hit a bit of a creative wall trying to fit all the Heroes in. A friend of mine gave me a suggestion to honor them at the end and I hope I did not forget anyone and that no one feels 'left out'.
Letter
Spoiler Alert!
Why do I love C3G? You have to start with the people. What an amazing group has assembled for the cause of fun. It all starts with the Heroes but goes right through to everyone involved in this amazing project. The people are the heart and soul of C3G.
My favorite aspect of Heroscape has always been the heroes. To me common squads ruined classic 'scape. A huge reason I love C3G is because it is all about the heroes. Also it feels like people, especially newbies, have more fun when they are using figures they recognize or even love.
On a personal level, I am honored to part of a group that is creating something that is a pure joy to play. I have been a gamer for a long time and a friend and I have created our own RPG we hope to make available to the public at some point, so I have this inner drive to create games and C3G lets me do that. I hope I can leave a mark here and not a stain.
Intro
Spoiler Alert!
For years the Battle of All Time raged on.
Generals summon forth minions to fight for control of Valhalla.
Elsewhere...... at the lonely ruins of a deserted warehouse...... a new war had begun.
This time it would be fought by heroes of the 'super' variety. And so it was, the 'ten' waged their eternal struggle in cramped quarters with only rumors of reinforcements. Monotony ruled this world and questions were raised as to why this crumbled building with a destructible wall was so important. All hope is nearly lost when one historic day, a ray of sun breaks through dark clouds and warms bleak asphalt. A tear rips the fabric of reality and through this rift struts forth The World's Finest.
This battle would never be the same.
Poem
Spoiler Alert!
C3G how do I love thee?
I drooled over cards, my mouth agape
Holy $#!+, they put the Hero in 'scape
Designs dripping, with mechanics and theme
Thrilling to play, a comics nerd's dream
Factions were chosen and we 'scaped all night
Epic battles waged in C3G delight
Extreme fun,
morning sun
The air, bloody and stale
Empty cans tell the tale
When you know that it hurts
It Must have been Burt's
C3G Heroes
The sharpest crew ever
Eternally helpful
Fiendishly clever
Sir G's 'Special Eyes'
Never blur, when grammar lies
Blood and sweat
Pay the toll
Bats and Grif
Heart and Soul
A3N is Australian for awesome
Sidekicks and Allies do all they can
Spidey'tillIDie, number one fan
I will never forget
that glorious day
A man named tickle
asked me stay
And with that an offer,
Ghost Rider to play---------------(test)
I gave up my dice, both red and blue
Now I only roll whites, just for you

Re: How do you love C3G? Contest deadline extended to Feb. 2
Well, it looks like I've made the deadline. So without further ado, here is my entry:
First off, here is my hunk of C3G figures. It includes proxies, but it sure is a lot if you ask me!
So, I have written a short message using my figures!
Spoiler Alert!
The most important thing about C3G to me is easily the people involved. Without all of these people, C3G wouldn't be nearly what it is today and has been for the two years I've been around. So, I wanted to say thanks to everybody that makes C3G so great. I spent time writing every single person that I have affiliated with in C3G a letter and PMing it to them. Here are all of those letters:
Spoiler Alert!

Dear Matt Helm,
Thank you for giving me knowledge to leech off of. Over 2 years of observation, I have learned many things from your outstanding design style. Your work is always a good reference when I'm searching for tips. Just being around has led me to learn some things that I have found useful in C3G.
My favorite memory of you is a recent slur about how Heroclix players feel about C3G using their figures. It's always good to agree with Mr. Helm!
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear NecroBlade,
Thank you for embodying the idea of passion. Your fondness of all things Agent touches me. You have a great liking for certain things, and you pursue your goals to make those things happen.
My favorite memory of you is all of the talk about the S.W.A.T. It always was something that everybody mentioned you were planning on doing for a long time, and whenever I see any sort of S.W.A.T. I think of you contemplating endlessly on ideas for them.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear SirGalahad,
Thank you for being an inspiration. From the moment you became a Hero, I have been watching you and learning from you. You define what it means to take pride in something that you love. And with such a formal name, who can go wrong?
My favorite memory of you is your first ever design, Poison Ivy. You set the standards for public designs, and with that, gave me the courage I needed to design 6 units now. Playtesting Strong Guy for you is also another highlight of my times here. For some reason, that playtest was one of my most memorable ones.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Good Pig,
Thank you for setting an excellent example of how to show gratitude towards C3G. When you were first new, I didn't think much of you, but that didn't last long. You soon turned into a shining star in my eyes, and one always knows to follow the path of a shining star.
My favorite memory of you is when you designed Scarecrow and the Fear Gas Glyph. You thought outside of the box and opened up new opportunities by designing a glyph in the public. You also came forth as a superb artist when you whipped up the platinum that is Kingpin's card.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Spidey'tilIDie,
Thank you for being a strong support to my actions. You're a ton of fun to work with, and fun is the main reason 2 years have flown by. Your energetic spirit touches me as something that is necessary to purely enjoy an experience as great as C3G.
My favorite memory is definitely when I playtested Hawkman for you. I was incredibly excited to try him out, and it may just be my favorite playtest I have ever done. To this day Hawkman is one of my favorite units because of that.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Balantai,
Thank you for showing me how to stand up for your opinions. You may not know it, but you are somebody who I admire an awful lot. You always fight for what you think it right, and have a strong sense in achieving your goals.
My favorite memory of you comes from the initial discussion about C3G turning private. You held your own against the decision, and I still look up to you for that after 2 years. Sure, the project is more successful than ever because of that decision, but that's not important. The important thing is that you had a view of what was right and you withheld it through everything that happened.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear GreyOwl,
Thank you for being one of the kindest people I have ever crossed paths with. You always appreciated the effort I was putting into C3G, and I will never forget that. The saying that owls are wise rings true in this case. You provided insight and opinions that really mattered and made a difference.
My favorite memory of you is easily when you gifted me Photoshop for Christmas last year. You allowed me to continue my work within the Art Department by putting in the effort to exclusively gift me a $700 program. I couldn't thank you more for the opportunity that you presented me with.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear WhiteStuff,
Thank you for all of the work you have put into C3G. Creating the comics for each release was a fabulous thing, and your humorous nature retained a positive vibe in me. You are such a fun addition to C3G, and what more can I ask?
My favorite memory of you is the Wave 4 comic strip. That one is my favorite of all of the art that you have done. Those Green Lanterns just strike me as funny.
So Thanks,

Dear IAmBatman,
Thank you for being a leader. You are a role-model to me. You have a strong sense of leadership and rule with justice and fairness to all. I don't think I could have stayed with this project for so long if it weren't for you. You always listen to everyone's opinions, and that is an important quality.
My favorite memory of you would be your 40,000th post. A truly great post in my mind, one that expresses the longevity of C3G and how close we all are.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Griffin,
Thank you for keeping things in line throughout the years. We have certainly had our differences, but at the end of the day, you've still got a friend in me. You always express an honest opinion, no matter how farfetched, but those opinions keep the project from straying awry. You have a great sense of humor as well, which fuels the positive energy that C3G has.
My favorite memory of you would be our recent HeroSkype game. It was an incredible honor to play one of C3G's founding fathers. Losing mattered not to me, it was the experienced that counted.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Tcglkn,
Thank you for being a close companion throughout the years. You always seem to understand me, and that is a quality that is golden to me. Working alongside you for so long has sure been a treat.
My favorite memory of you would have to be your passion to design the Power Pack. You set a goal for yourself, and fought to achieve it. The induction to the Art Department also marked a great memory in my mind.
So Thanks,

Dear A3n,
Thank you for providing me with the ability to learn from my mistakes. Your insightful views have allowed me to learn from experience. I learned a lot during my time in the Art Department, as well as other important qualities throughout these 2 years.
My favorite memory of you would be your superb feedback on the cards I was creating within the Art Department. You shaped me from somebody who can use Photoshop into an artist. A big change indeed.
So Thanks,

Dear Hahma,
Thank you for staying neutral for these 2 years. When you weren't in my favor, you weren't against it either. You have a powerful mind, one that can keep on running, no matter what. I always imagine you with a smile on your face, through thick and thin, and happy people are always a good thing.
My favorite memory of you would be the World's Finest release. It definitely wasn't my glory days, but the excitement and enthusiasm you expressed during that time was pure and positive.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Yodaking,
Thank you for soaking yourself in the experiences of C3G. At first you seemed slightly overwhelmed by the activity in the project, but now you are more active than ever, and the more the merrier! Plus, being a Star Wars fan myself, your username flatters me.
My favorite memory of you just happened! Your first playtest! I began my time with C3G by playtesting, and it is still one of my favorite things to do in C3G. Playtesting is really enjoyable and I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear YummyPie,
Although you haven't posted an awful lot, your posts are always great. You take plenty of interest in C3G, and it goes without saying that interest is awesome. You must like the yummy pie that C3G has to offer.
My favorite memory of you is the so very fun song you entered in the "How Do You Love C3G?" contest. It's quite humorous, but at the same time, represents everything that C3G means to you.
So Thanks,

Dear WulfHunter667,
Thank you for having faith and good relations for so long. You have been a lot less active lately, but when I was first jumping into C3G, you seemed to appreciate all the effort I was giving more than anyone else.
My favorite memory of you would be your amazing effort in helping me recuperate from my darkest days on the forums. You may not have realized it, but designing those old Rogues gave me the confidence I needed to return to C3G.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Marv_Art,
Thank you for your continual support in creating an amazing public section for C3G. Your speedy playtesting and conceptual ideas add to the excellent roster of skills C3G possesses. Every fish in the pool swims for a reason.
My favorite memory of you is your old suggestion in the Promotions Department for a Giant Foot Fungus Special Attack. That made me laugh quite a bit. Your passion for Juggernaut is also something that makes you shine as a member of the C3G family.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear CharosInCharge,
Thank you for being a great presence in the strategic side of C3G. Your superb strategies are always fun to read and are certainly well written. I really wish you were still writing them.
My favorite memory of you is easily your Green Lantern strategy review. I loved reading through that, and your tips help me all the time.
So Thanks,

Dear Deathwalker 1970,
Thank you for being a joyful presence. You really seemed to enjoy running the promotion department for so long, and you are very well missed. Every time someone from Denmark comes along, I think of your great service to C3G.
My favorite memory of you is your awesome custom lantern figures. They are painted beautifully and I really wish I could create some of my own. Well, I'll keep on trying, that's for sure.
So Thanks,

Dear Porkins,
Thank you for being a goofball. That is by no means a bad thing, I love it a ton. Whether goofball is the right word or not, I'm not sure, but you're always having fun and that makes me have fun too. Your Star Wars avatar makes me think you yell out "Red 6 to Red Leader" often.
My favorite memory of you is your Black Cat design. The bad luck concept is golden. You pulled the design of beautifully. I cannot wait to meet you in May.
So Thanks,

Dear Adam Souza,
Thank you for being such a friend to me. Back in the day, you were such a great colleague. We've certainly had some great times in the past.
My favorite memory of you is when you designed the Sinestro Corps Soldier. I was so excited that you continued the legacy of the Yellow Lanterns, and was honored to work with you on such a fun faction. I really miss those days.
So Thanks,

Dear Master Tang,
Thank you for providing great experiences and good times in my earlier days with C3G. You were very fun to compete against in our casual playtesting wars. Unforgettable times come from moments like those.
My favorite memory of you is one that I still think of often. Tang's Tasty Dew. The day when you introduced the concept was golden. Whenever I drink Mountain Dew, it comes to mind. You appear to have created a catch phrase my friend!
So Thanks,

Thank you for putting a smile on my face. Every time I read one of your posts, I can't help laughing. You're definitely have some of the most positive energy of an C3G member. You're super helpful and I don't think I would ever get lost following you.
My favorite memory of you is when you took over the Member of the Week thread. You posted a hilarious fake interview involving you and a mysterious character names Number 2. A great source of entertainment!
So Thanks,

Dear Margloth,
Thank you for being such a helpful person to work with. Sidekicks tend to stick together, and it certainly feels like that. A strong companionship is what has shaped the current Sidekick roster into a group of great designers and fun people.
My favorite memory of you is when you allowed me to LD your Hush write-up. I don't think I ever said thank you, so you have my thanks now, though belated. Allowing me to design Hush gave me more experience as a designer, something I could always use.
So Thanks,

Dear Quozl,
Thank you for presenting an open opinion in times of need. You are a very well-respected member of C3G and your opinions definitely influence some of my decisions. You also exert great responsibility and always fulfill your duties.
My favorite memory of you is by far your Catman design. I still hope that you end up designing him, it'd be a blast to have that thread unlocked. We're only a few Outlaws away too.
So Thanks,

Dear All Your Pie,
Thank you for showing such enthusiasm when it comes to C3G. I was so glad when you got to design the Toxic Waste Barrel you had been talking about for so long. You always persevere and are happy with whatever outcome present itself. You remind me of I Like Pi!, a New England 'scaper. He's younger than me, but pretty dang good at 'scape and always enthused.
My favorite memory of you is your initial write-up for the Toxic Waster Barrel in the Public Design Post. I had never seen anyone so excited about a Destructible Object, and it really made me realize that it's not just figures that make up the C3G roster.
So Thanks,

Dear Flame Gryphon,
Thank you for being somebody I can easily relate with. Being of similar age to each other, you removed the weighting pressure of being considered 'just another kid'. In essence you gifted me with confidence, and one of my personal motives is that confidence is key.
My favorite memory of you is when Griffin posted an awesome picture after you signed up to playtest Human Torch. You loved the picture and made a blunt prediction that the next SSE would be Pheonix. That shows a man's passion for fire.
So Thanks,

Dear Hidicul,
Thank you for being a great sport throughout our times working together. We competed wholeheartedly in friendly contests, and they certainly brightened the C3G experience for me.
My favorite memory of you are our old playtest wars. We used to knock them out left and right. I remember one night I actually did 3 full playtests. Playtesting always was a passion of mine, and a passion we well shared.
So Thanks,

Dear GamerHusband,
Thank you for simply being a good person. I applaud your style, sort of laid back and relaxed. At least that's how I see it, and I like that. You never seem to get frustrated or stressed out, which is something I would like to work on. You're a great example that I have learned from.
My favorite memory of you is a great battle report you put together a while ago, involving the Green Lanterns. I enjoy reading battle reports and should probably read a lot more.
So Thanks,

Dear Warlordofthewolves,
Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to teach. Teaching is an experience that I believe everyone needs at some point. You are one of the few people who I can play C3G with, and that is priceless.
My favorite memory of you would be your first playtest, The Hood. We tested it together, and I taught you everything you needed to know. Those were excellent battles indeed.
So Thanks,

Dear Aldin,
Thank you for being a very wise onlooker. You have watched over C3G with a great attitude for a long time now, and your design insight is very helpful to everyone looking to improve their work. Feedback is an important part of everything.
My favorite memory of you if when I was prepping a design with Margloth. You seemed awful anxious to review it and see what I had in store. I never actually got around to PMing it to you. For the record, it was Mirror Master.
So Thanks,

Dear Taeblewalker,
Thanks for showing me first hand how people really admire C3G. Seeing as how you live decently close to me, knowing another follower of C3G in person is a great honor. I adore your wonderful maps as well.
My favorite memory of you happened last year, at TotalCon (conveniently, it's that time of year again). We crossed paths, and you inquired about the Fantastic Four release. I was happy to talk to you about C3G, and we hit it off pretty well, while I was hiding information from you as you tempted me to say things. It was a very enjoyable time.
So Thanks,

Dear Red Eyed Jedi,
Thank you for entering C3G so boldly and confidently. Since your sudden appearance, you have been widely accepted as a precious member of the family. I was a bit too bold when I first found C3G, but also shy in many ways. I now regret that after seeing you jump right in to the ocean, needing not to get your feet wet first.
My favorite memory of you just has to be our recent afternoon playing HeroSkype. It was a ton of fun meeting you and although I lost both of our games, they made my day.
So Thanks,

Dear Karat,
Thanks for being such a strong character in the C3G family. At first I didn't see it, but as time flew by, I really noticed how much you love C3G, and I appreciate that kind of love.
My favorite memory of you comes from your personal customs thread. You had posted a write-up for Owl a long time ago and I remember commenting and thinking about it. The character then developed and moved to the Public Design Post. I can't wait for that design.
So Thanks,

Thank you for spicing up the C3G family with your energetic attitude. A tornado is the perfect word to describe you, always moving and thinking. An unstoppable force of fun.
My favorite memory of you is when I was hooked on Red Tornado. It was right when you joined, and we had a little slur about your relation to Red Tornado, a character that I love.

Dear Hi1Hi1Hi1Hi1,
Thank you for passively showing an example of greatness. You are a fantastic designer, and above all your units are tons of fun. You may not realize it, but you set some important examples about how to make designs fun. Fun is always my top priority for sure.
My favorite memory of you is your time on the ERB. I remember sending stats to you for an ERB review once, it must've been Green Arrow Connor Hawke. Your response was very helpful to the outcome of the design, and I appreciated the feedback.
So Thanks,

Thank you for being such a creative mind, even if subtle at times. As you become more active, I love watching you work your creative mind. I'm sure there will be plenty more awesome moments down the road.
My favorite memory of you is when you first joined. As with any new member, excitement was aroused that C3G was expanding, but your unique username and style intrigued me.

Thank you for being so confident. You only recently joined C3G, but already it feels like you've been around for years. You quickly made yourself at home, and you're definitely a cherished member of our family.
My favorite memory of you is a bit prolonged. During your entire time with C3G, you talked about how you wanted to design Emma Frost, and now you are. You certainly know how to make things happen. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Thank you for making the decision to jump into C3G. I had seen you around the site a lot, especially in the trade thread, and was incredibly pleased when you showed up in the C3G board. Affiliating with members and then having them join projects is something I really enjoy.
My favorite memory of you is when you began trading like crazy. I knew that such a person wouldn't be bale to resist joining some sort of project, and I'm certainly lucky that it turned out to be C3G.

Thank you for providing top-notch examples of art. I continue to learn about digital art, as it is one of my newer passions, and your great work with comic art has taught me some neat tricks and given me ideas that I will hopefully use in the future.
My favorite memory of you is when you whipped up a great comic image for Solovar. I really love the United Nations concept, and was very sad when Solovar's head was cut off by the top of the image. Nevertheless, the great Skeeter saved the day!
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear BluhMe,
Thank you for jumping feet first into the community aspect of C3G. The community is my favorite part of C3G, and when your first post was in the HeroSkype League thread, I knew you would be somebody I liked a lot.
My favorite memory of you is our recent HeroSkype game. I've rarely talked to foreigners in my life, and it was a great experience to be able to chat with you and your friend. I sweat though, 2 vs. 1 isn't fair.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear 1Mmirg,
Thank you for being such a lasting presence. I've known you to be around for as long as I can remember being with C3G, which is close to two years. Without even needing to design, simply being around adds to the experience.
My favorite memory of you is your wise statements. There are quite a few, but they are always full of knowledge and can easily be learned from.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear LordEsenwienIV,
Thank you for working with me so wholeheartedly. I always felt like we worked great together, and teamwork is a concept that is golden in terms of C3G. Without teamwork, we'd be nothing.
My favorite memory of you is when you expanded your activity to other projects around the board. I enjoyed working with you at both Warzones of Valhalla and C3V.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage

Dear Lord Pyre,
Thank you for being a fantastic friend to me during my time with C3G. I feel like we get along great, and you help make up the family that C3G is. Having an age difference of only a few years, you understand me better than some of the other folks do at times.
My favorite memory of you is definitely the old races for design slots. I loved those so much, they were fun and exciting. Batman Beyond if a beloved character that I was very glad to see.
So Thanks,
~Scapemage
Now, I would like to share with you some pictures of myself playing C3G:
Spoiler Alert!
I would like to close with my favorite post of all time. I posted this 6 months ago.

Thank you to Hidicul for creating fin times within rivalry. Thank you to SpideytillIdie for cooperating and making my playtesting experience fun. Thank you to Balantai for being an ally during an important debate. And thank you to everyone else for everything you have done to make my experience worthwhile. And I hope so very much it will live on forever.
This project means so much to me. Sure, I've played less than 10 C3G games ever. So why have I dedicated lots of time, skill, creativity, ideas and more to this project for 18 months? Because I love every minute of it. The people I've met have been a big part of the reason I'm still here. I have become a part of this project, attached to the point where it would be almost impossible to let go. That is why every day I get on Heroscapers and come here. Why I playtest. Why I contribute. Why I joined the art department. Why I'm here. All because of people.
Long live the reason being on the forums is fun, educational, exciting, humorous, challenging, and communicative.
Thank you to everybody, I couldn't ever ask for a better group of people to be around for so long.
P.S. If for some odd reason I may have forgotten somebody in my letters, please let me know and I will get a letter out to them immediately.
