When dealing with Warhammer models always paint their stands 'Goblin Green'. It's amazing how much better a boring black cloaked gobo looks with a green stand. Otherwise, your paint jobs are pretty good. All in the lines and nice inking. I personally like to snazzy up my Warhammer models but don't do too much of that until you're experienced. Good job though!

I don't plan on keeping them on those bases. I'm putting them on repainted Elfball bases like my Dwarves. I only stuck them in those so I had something to hold on to while painting. As for the snazzying up of the minis, I don't think they need to be. Not with Heroscape anyway. I don't find that Heroscape minis are painted overly well so a quick paint job and a wash fits in well. Actually, it looks better in my opinion. Thanks!

Next up is Omegacron. I bought the Mechwarrior 265 Marauder IIC so he needed some painting. It only took me a few hours last night to do and it would have been a lot faster if I had a can of Skull White so I wouldn't have to paint him by hand.

The colours I used were Games Workshop Skull White, Boltgun Metal, Enchanted Blue and a wash of Badab Black.

I was going to leave him just white and not use a wash because I was afraid it would make him too dark but I went for it anyway since there are a lot of crevices and bullet holes that needed filling. Now all I need is a base and to get that stupid rock off of his old base.

I was out to the store yesterday and bought some more paint to finish my goblins and noticed that they had some Dust miniatures. I picked up a box forgetting that they aren't pre-painted. I had a snow day today and decided to paint one of them to see how they would turn out.

The pictures are a bit dark. I'll have better ones once I finish painting them all.

Too bad those Snipers won't have paint jobs that are up to par. I wouldn't know how to fix that though

He looks pretty awesome to me but I'm a sucker for that WWI German look. You use a great technique on the fabric parts, much better then me. Do those bases work in the ladders?

He looks great! How did you paint him? Is that white with just a wash of dabad black or are there layers going on there?

Snipers? Are you refering to the Omnicron Sniper with Omegacron or the gun on the Dust Mini?

I didn't even think about checking until you mentioned it. Sadly, they do not. I guess I'll have to rebase these guys in the near future.

I did more layers than that, but I have a feeling it would turn out the same. I'll probably do a step by step when I start the rest and post it.

I finally finished painting another Dust mini. I still have three left but I figured it would be better to get the tutorial up and then take my time with the others and do them as a distraction from school.

What you will need:



Paint

• Skull White
• Chaos Black
• Shadow Grey
• Fortress Grey
• Codex Grey
• Adeptus Battlegrey
• Chainmail
• Boltgun Metal
• Camo Green
• Catachan Green

Washes

• Devlan Mud
• Badab Black

Brushes

• Citadel Small Drybrush
• Citadel Basecoat Brush
• Citadel Standard Brush
• Citadel Fine Detail Brush

Other

• Water
• Paper Towel
• Good Lighting
• Good Music
• And of course, your mini:

Obviously you can use any brand or colour of paint and any brand or size of brush. I listed which brushes I used so you can have an idea of what to be painting with.

Step 1



Use your basecoat brush, or any slightly larger brush, to paint the entire mini Fortress Grey. Once it's dry take a minute to look it over and make sure you didn't miss any spots. Turn it upside down if you have to.

Step 2



Take your standard brush, or wash brush if you have one (I don't), and give the pants and coat a wash of Badab Black. If you're a bit messy and get it on something other than that, it's fine.

Step 3



With your small drybrush, drybrush Skull White on the pants and coat. Again, if you're a bit messy here it isn't a big deal.

Step 4



Now use your standard brush and give the knee patches of the pants a wash of Devlan Mud. This will hopefully make its knees look a little dirty.

Step 5



Take out the Skull White again and give its knees a drybrush. Don't put on too much because you want to be able to see at least a little of the brown to make them seem dirty.

Step 6



Paint the mask, gloves, gun, belt, and boots Chaos Black using your standard brush. You might want to use a finer brush for some spots if there is a tight fit like around the back of the head, or the belt since it isn't a very wide space.

Step 7



Now for the armour and helmet. Paint it Codex Grey with your standard brush.

Step 8



Give the armour and helmet a wash of Devlan Mud.

Step 9



Give the armour, helmet, and the area at the bottom of the pants a wash of Badab Black.

Step 10



Paint the grenade launcher, except for the very tip, Catachan Green. You might need to use a finer brush to reach the tighter spaces.

Step 11



Now paint the tip of the grenade launcher Camo Green.

Step 12



Give the entire grenade launcher a wash of Devlan Mud.

Step 13



Paint the lenses of the gas mask with Shadow Grey. There's probably a better looking blue but I don't have it and wasn't in the mood to mix colours. You might want to use a fine brush.

Step 14



Drybrush the boots and gloves Adeptus Battlegrey.

Step 15



Now for the metallics. If you don't leave this until last, make sure to change your water before you use a non-metallic colour or you will get metallic flecks in your paint.

Drybrush some Boltgun Metal onto the gun.

Step 16



Open up your Chainmail and paint the rims of the lenses, the filter, and the chin strap of the gas mask, the rivets on the armour, and the belt buckle.

Step 17

Now all that is left is to rebase, assuming you want to. Dust Miniature bases don't fit in ladders so you're probably going to want to. I don't have any finished bases at the moment so I decided to just paint the base black.

What Dust Tactics box did you buy? Looks like it may be the recon grenadiers but I'm not sure.
