PRE-GENCON

Obviously, I won't have any pictures until Wednesday, but I thought I'd go ahead and at least get started with a a "flash back" picture from the "good old days" when there was a large Heroscape display in the exhibitor's hall. To see larger pictures, click on the image.

This is from 2007 - Swarm of the Marro was new, Aquilla's Alliance, Ticalla Jungle, and Wave 8 were previewed. That was only 4 years ago, but for some reason it seems like a lot more.

What a difference one year makes -- this was the extent of the Heroscape display in the exhibitor's hall in 2008:

This picture is 3 years old and I just noticed the plaid shorts in the back ground.

Well, I got all the boxes up from the basement and they are sitting in the entryway waiting to be loaded up tomorrow:

Not as impressive as Rÿchean's picture of the prizes , but without these there aren't any games .

So, do you think all of it will fit into this:

It's a Think City (total electric car). I get to drive it for a year as a "test vehicle" to see driving, charging, etc. habits. One (only?) perk of working for an electric company

Wednesday Setup Pictures:

In order to unload at the convention center, you first have to go to a marshalling yard, check-in, and then they will send you to the convention center when space is available at the loading dock. While I was waiting, I noticed the supports holding up the small trailer used as and office at the marshalling yards. Real safe looking (yes one support is at an angle and two are at the very edge of the blocks):

The next few pictures are from the setup. Like last year, the AC wasn't on and neither were most of the lights. So that is why people may look a little hot/sweaty and also why the pictures are so dark.

This year the exhibitors hall is in the new portion of the Indianapolis Convention Center -- from what I could see of it, it looks nice. Also, it is a lot easier to go from the exhibitor's hall to the game hall than in the past.

Not much else to post today -- tomorrow will be some of the games and I'll also try to get some pictures from the exhibitor's hall.

Pictures from the heroscape games today -- they should be in order (i.e., morning games first, then afternoon games)

One picture from the Battleship Galaxy demo - my son bought this today and he and his friends have already played several games -- they really like it. They are the ones closest to the camera (my son is on the right helping his friend-girl play the game against another of his friends).

Sorry, not very any details on the pictures, but I've got sore feet and back tonight and morning will get here pretty early. Tomorrow I'll try to get some from the exhibitor's hall -- I was only in there a short time today (visited Plaid Hat games to pick up the master set and some boosters).

Have not played in a long time. Stopped buying cards after the second Zendikar set. I much rather play Summoner Wars. At least then you don't have to keep buying OP cards to trash people. There is a large power creep in MtG, and my wallet does not have a positive income creep. Plus, I playtest for Summoner Wars, which makes it even more fun.

The reason I bash MtG is because if you look at it, they are the only WotC product, not even D&D, that has not taken a hit in the past year or so. D&D lost their lead designer and their current product is less then desired when compared to the quality of the original 4.0 product. MtG is their cash cow baby, and is part of the reason Scape bit the dust. See the bitter animosity now?

I'm guessing that's the prizes at Gencon, considering there's lava and tundra in there.
