Traveling base molds

I know this is an old thread, but here is a note to anyone who wants to make their own molds. Mine are'nt as good as the traveling ones, but sculpy clay will work. First use a crayon to get a layer of wax on your original base, then mold clay around it. Pop it in the oven with the base still in it. I Know, you ruin your original base, but it's worth it in the long run. When it's done baking, carefully remove the ruined base while it's still hot. Now you have a decent mold to work with. Before you put any resin in it, take some hot candle wax, and pour it in the mold, and quickly pour it out. You just want to coat the surface of the mold. Sometimes you may have to redefine your corners with a small screwdriver. Now you can pour your resin in and let it set up. After 30 minutes when the resin is still flexible, flex your mold a little, and the base comes right out. You want to then lay it on a flat surface face up, or it will shape to what ever you lay it on. The resin will not adhere to the wax. I've made several hundred bases this way. Just be sure to recoat your mould with wax if things start getting harder to get out. I made 16 single molds, and it takes about 2-3 ounces to fill all.

You know, reading the thread 2 pages back answered the who has the molds question. A person even received bases from him in February of this year.

I'm not saying that the delay isn't bad, but as a person who delayed them for a huge ton of time, I understand how it can slip from your mind when things get crazy.

And if Superflytnt has something to add to an old conversation, that seems fine by me. Even if the original poster can't use the info, perhaps someone else will be able to do something with it.

Did they ever get to the next person on the list? I don't even think most of the people on the list still log on.

That sounds nice, but it totally misses the point. It's not about making bases at this point, No SIR. There's a higher principal afoot here; something akin to asking for directions when you're 78% sure you'd recognise the area if you just look around the bend.
