Hi Everyone!

For my birthday this year, I hosted the First Ever [cue dramatic trumpets]:

HEX ADDICTS HEROSCAPE TOURNAMENT!!!
Saturday, DECEMBER 4th, 2010 @ High Noon

Basically, a day of HeroScape, broken into 2 MAIN EVENTS:

An 8-Player ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT, like this:



Each Player has a strict 665 Points to build their Armies, then battle it out in a series of 1-on-1 Elimination Battles.

After a Champion is declared in the Elimination Tournament, there will be a massive, brutal, all-out, last-man-standing BATTLE ROYALE!
There is a 400 Point limit for the Battle Royale, but up to a 5% 'Theme Bonus' will be allowed.

There will be two maps set up side-by-side so that 2 battles can rage simultaneously during the Elimination Tournament; then the two maps will combine to form one massive battlefield for the Battle Royale.

PS: I included this in the COMIC CUSTOMS section because the Tournament uses a large number of said customs, from the halls of C3G and NM24 to cards by individual creators such as Sherman Davies, Grey Owl, Matt Helm, Hi1hi1hi1hi1, Hahma, Felindar and myself. A full 'bibliography' of cards used will be included in the Team Roster post, along with links to the card art .

I have just completed construction of THE MAP!!!



This giant battlefield [which takes up our entire dining room table, including the leaf] will be divided into TWO maps for the 1-on-1 Elimination Tournament, as follows:



This will allow 4 players to battle simultaneously, and should help keep things moving. During the Elimination battles, players may NOT cross over the red line into the other map.

Of course, the entire map will be used for the Battle Royale, which will have 8 or 9 players battling all at the same time!

Just have to note:

Not only did Marcus [aka Taolar ] do great in the entire HEX ADDICTS Event, coming in 2nd Place in both the Elimination Tournament AND the Battle Royale, but he also PAINTED HIS MINIATURE... WHILE AT THE TOURNAMENT!!!



Rocket Red White & Blue is a repainted Rocket Red HeroClix figure. Marcus had originally photoshopped a picture of the mini for his character in a DCU RPG we do:



He was just going to use the Rocket Red card I made, but I loved the pic so much that I made Rocket Red White & Blue his own Army Card:



When Marcus said that he wanted to be Rocket Red White & Blue in the HEX ADDICTS Tournament, I bought him a Rocket Red 'Clix in the hopes that just such a custom paint-job would happen. Unfortunately, he didn't get the figure from me until a day or two before the tournament. Luckily, Marcus is skilled at doing things at the last moment and cranked out a sweet looking figure in a really short amount of time, all while drinking several bottles of Guinness and eating a vegan pizza. Way to go, dude!

Marcus' Background story for the character is HILARIOUS, make sure you read all about it on his character sheet!

The game was pure awesome. I love how the themes seemed to match up well. I wouldn't change a thing, except how I played in the final match.

The criteria was mainly that the players pick units that I own, from my 'approved' library of Army Cards... if it was a custom, they had a choice of several cards in some cases. Daredevil for example wouldn't fit into my friend Matt's army with the 200 point NM2 version, but Sherman Davies' 135 point version fit in perfectly. My card library includes all of the C3G and NM24 cards of characters I have, plus lots of my favorites from the A-Z thread and my own creations. I couldn't convince anyone to use STILT-MAN, though it's still one of my favorite cards!

Geez, my Heroscape Army Card Library is teeming with GreyOwl creations, so the players had a lot of your work to choose from.

I'm just glad Lockjaw [who I believe was nominated for NM24 by yours truly, if I'm not mistaken] is seeing some action in the tournament! He's one of Mimi's all-time favorites, and will come in handy in George's army, moving slow, non-flying Zetacron around to do some damage FAST!


I just wish all you cool dudes here on heroscapers.com could be in San Diego this coming Saturday so I could kick your butts!
