410 Point Armies
Ok so there is this tournament near Chicago that I am hoping to be going to that has a point limit of 410 pt. armies. The start zones are 24 hexes and being played on balanced BOV maps. Please do not suggest armies that have waves 1 OR 4 as I don't have those 2 waves. Here are some armies that I was thinking of.
Zombies x4 240 Krav 340 Marros 390 Marcu 410 KOW x3 210 Gilbert 315 Finn 395 Isamu Cyprien 150 Sonya 195 Stingers x 3 375 Eldgrim 405 So what else do you think? |

This is what I would bring: 240 Glads x3 120 Blasts x2 050 Marro Warriors 410, 24 spaces The thing you really need to worry about most is 5x or 6x Stingers. Don't put yourself in a position where you have to suffer the full flood of skulls they can produce. Dodge their attacks. Either use something like a Vydar ranged pod that will play keep-away with Stingers, or else blanket them with rats or glads. |

Re: 410 Point Armies
I wouldn't underestimate the knight army. The only real downfall to it is that you do not have any special attacks. Gilbert will (usually) net you one or two additional moves so you can get your knights where they need to go quicker than most people realize. Also, their 4 defense holds up really well, and if there is jungle brush on the maps, 5 defense is even better.
I like all three armies, and they all seem pretty solid. Go with the one you would have the most fun with, in my opinion. "Chewie should move 6, lumbering or not. He's got long-ass legs"-

Re: 410 Point Armies
Thank you for the responses rdhight and rym. I think I like my Cyprien build the best too. I think that the Knights are not not that bad to have no range with Gilbert and the new jungle brush. The BOV maps usually provide enough cover for the melee units in the games. Whether this is jungle brush, trees, or even putting in a lot of roads to keep them going a long.
I really do like this point total. The idea was that it was just below the point of playing something like 6x 4th Mass. |

Re: 410 Point Armies
Do what you want as rym said, but a good team in my opinion, is something with range and a high defense. If you have a decent defense, you can just keep moving backward, attacking from range, and then your opponents will keep following you, and if they attack, well, you have a good defense, so you should be able to hold them off for a while.

I know that in this year's DFW NHSD event, I placed third using a knights army and the eventual winner used an all melee army as well (orcs). If you know what you play, and play what you know, as Rÿchean states and I have quoted in my signature, then even a melee army can handle a ranged army. It's all in knowing the cards, synergies, movements, specials, and so on. Only moving the knights three spaces instead of a full four, so that you remain adjacent to jungle brush for an extra defense die, for example. Plus, the BOV maps tend to be balanced enough so that melee armies stand as much a fighting chance as do ranged armies. "Chewie should move 6, lumbering or not. He's got long-ass legs"-

Re: 410 Point Armies
Yes I agree with your post rym. What about this army?
Krug 120 Stinger x4 360 MWs 410 |

Re: 410 Point Armies
That's pretty solid. I'd send the Stingers out first and wreak as much havoc as possible, then follow up with Krug. Use the Marro Warriors as clean up.

Re: 410 Point Armies
I played an army very similar to this at a couple of tourneys. I replaced Isamu and the 'reavers with the Marro Warriors. Quite solid.
