Playing Card Through Skull
It has recently come up in a conversation that throwing a playing card through someone's skull might be possible. I think it is not. My friend says it is.
His logic is that he saw a tv show where they used watermelons to test whether or not an explosive can shatter a skull. If the explosive blows up the watermelon, it will blow up a skull. Therefore, if you are able to throw a card through a watermelon, you can throw one through a skull. He says he saw someone throw a card through a watermelon. I say: 1)The force from an explosive is different from the force of a playing card 2)A water melon is not as strong as a human skull 3)It would take an extreme amout of force to throw a card into a watermelon 4)A card may be able to cut your skin, but not penetrate the bone As random as it may be, this is my question: Is it possible to throw an average card at someone with enough force to send it into their brain? A human? No. A human could barely break the skin with a playing card, nevermind go through a skull.

Mythbusters already busted that one
Although what they proved was that you cannot do any real harm to a person with playing cards. No matter how hard you throw them you will rarely be able to even break the skin. And if you can't break the skin, how are you gonna do anything to a skull? Your friend's way, way off there.

Agreed. I vividly remember that episode of Mythbusters. They actually built a machine to throw the cards faster than the worlds fastest card thrower, who was also on the show. It's been long since busted.

The playing card would have to be made of metal and the edges honed down to be razon sharp and then a throing machine that would create maximum velocity and torque would be needed and you would need to hit the person in the exact perfect spot....so its not totally impossible
