First, yes - any expansion pack or heroscape item you wish to put on the table. By having everyone bring a prize...everyone takes one home. With additional support from select vendors there will be more on the table than we have contestants.
Second, yes - our youth bracket is designed for our younger and less experienced players. Typically the youth bracket will be players from about eight to twelve. Your son will be fine in that group.
