Re: The Book of Dagger - Design
C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (DAGGER)
- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.
PASS
- MIRROR TEST/ Check to see if the unit were played against itself, if there would be any loops that would upset the balance of the Game.
PASS
- BONDING TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing Bonding abilities to make sure there are no continual Bonding possibilities that do not stop appropriately or do not stop at all. This is to prevent loops in Bonding.
PASS
- SYNERGIES TEST/ Compare the unit card with all possible currently existing synergies to make sure there are no factors that could break the game by making any unit to powerful or too weak.
PASS
- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
PASS
- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
PASS
- FUN COMPETITIVE TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play against.

PASS
Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes
- What should be the unit's point value? 100-110 (105?)
- Give a brief overview. If we need to stay odd here, I think 105 is the best bet. She’s just not consistently tough enough to hold up to 115. I could see if we lowered the D20 roll to remove Order Markers on her special attack a little – right now it feels like a non-factor.
Spoiler Alert!
TEST 1
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Toad (95)
Dagger failed her only roll for the special attack. Toad won this one on the power of hitting his only Tongue Lash roll for an adjacent attack from height, then hitting 2 skulls the first time he used his special attack. Once Dagger’s in melee, her attack and defense are not very strong.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Toad wins with 2 wounds Turn 1 Round 2.
TEST 2
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Toad (95)
This one felt really close. Dagger hit on her only use of her special attack but failed her D20 roll (which seems a tad high, maybe?). Toad won initiative for Round 2, which made a big difference.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Toad with 3 wounds wins Turn 3 Round 2.
TEST 3
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Dazzler (100)
Immunity to Dazzled really helped Dagger here, but the usefulness of the other powers in this situation and the stats really made them feel completely even. Dagger won initiative for Round 2 to help her seal the deal.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Dagger with 3 wounds wins Turn 2 Round 2.
TEST 4
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Dazzler (100)
Normal attacks were having trouble getting through on both sides, so Dagger switched to her special attack and was looking good with 3 quick wounds on Dazzler while taking only one wound herself, but then she couldn’t finish it off, going really cold on her special attack for a while. Dagger hit 4 out of 13 attempts with her special attack. The D20 roll never came close to hitting.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Dagger with 3 wounds wins Turn 1 Round 5.
TEST 5
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Heat Wave (110)
Dagger got off two attacks to Heat Wave’s one, thanks to winning initiative in Round 2. Dagger got two wounds on Heat Wave with her first attack, boosted by height and sensory assault. On her second attack, she rolled 2 skulls and Heat Wave just whiffed.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Dagger wins with 1 wound Turn 1 Round 2.
TEST 6
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Heat Wave (110)
Dagger shifted to her special attack after missing it and her normal attack once each, and hit a skull four straight times with her special. The highest she rolled on the D20 was 14.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Dagger wins with 2 wounds Turn 3 Round 2.
TEST 7
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Talia al Ghul (110)
Dagger got off the first attack, from height, but only rolled 2 skulls and failed to inflict any wounds. Talia went ape with her Swordplay, rolling 3 skulls, then 1 skull, then no skulls, to inflict 3 wounds on Dagger with her first attack, then winning initiative and rolling 3 skulls again to finish Dagger.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Talia wins with Full Life Turn 1 Round 2.
TEST 8
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Talia al Ghul (110)
Talia got 3 wounds on Dagger early when Dagger whiffed on defense, but took a long time to finish her off. Dagger failed to make her pay much in the meantime.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Talia with 2 wounds wins Turn 2 Round 3.
TEST 9
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Mysterio (115)
Dagger realized Mysterio would be hard to hit with her normal attack, so she went exclusively with her special attack. However, she only hit on 4 of 11 rolls (and never hit her D20 roll).
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Dagger with 3 wounds wins Turn 1 Round 5.
TEST 10
Map: Custom
Units: Dagger vs. Mysterio (115)
Dagger tried to depend more on her normal attack here, but it was a disaster. It didn’t help that Mysterio was rolling tons of skulls.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Mysterio wins with Full Life Turn 2 Round 2.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
