Re: The Book of Cathar Spearmen
My point to restricting the battle to melee units was simply to demonstrate just how strongly they counter other melee units.
Also, I wasn't suggesting rushing in with the Cathars. You want to...

Re: The Book of Cathar Spearmen
Out of the suggestions that have been made for taking out the Cathars setting them against any combination of melee units in the game I think the only real contenders for beating them so far are the...

Re: The Book of Cathar Spearmen
If you can build an all melee army that can consistently beat an equal number of points worth of Cathar Spearmen I would be impressed. You can use any combination of all the melee pieces in the game....

Re: The Book of Cathar Spearmen
I think the easiest way to fix them would be to make them a unique squad. When you look at these guys and their massive list of over powered special abilities they just scream unique and yet they are...

Re: The Book of Hoplitron
These deserve better than B+ in the power rankings. They bond with Augamo and Major J15 which makes them a lot more versatile and dangerous. I have seen Augamo bonded with two hoplitrons go in as a...

Re: Ogre Warhulk - What's Your Army Idea?
I recently played an all melee match using the army below, and it mopped up against some serious competition. The warhulk survived almost to the very end of the match and many a knight fell to it's...

Re: The Book of Eltahale
That limitation on her special is a pain, but she has enough life to take a disengage in order to use it. After some more play, I find her similarity to Nifl even more noticable. The old ice dragon...

Re: Are the 4th Mass. Competitive?
It really depends. There are so many uniques out there to compare them to. The 4th are great, no doubt, but there are unique mixes that will take them out.
As others have mentioned, you have...

Re: The Book of Ornak
An interesting tactic to use with Ornak in relatively high point matches is to put Brunack and Raelin in the army along with a heavy hitting hero like the hydra or a nice multi hit range unit like...

Re: Competitive roman army
No guns definately changes things. It removes most of the heavy range units so melee squads like the Romans can cross the board more easily which is nice. It also removes almost all of the good...

Re: Power Rankings (fantasy-themed only)
The ranged dragons would all be a lot nastier. Nifl with his 6 life and 4 defence would be tough to take down without many range units left that could actually really threaten him and the greenscales...

Re: Orcs or Romans?
With what you have, take the romans. The orcs are very hero dependant and you just don't have the heros to support them, particularly the arrow gruts.
With the romans you have two solid bonding...

We play a lot of different point totals where I live, but we also play with custom rule variantions to shake things up a bit and make it more fun. A good example of this would be playing games where...

Re: 450 point army
If you have another squad of Blades, you might try this:
5xBlades 200
Grimnak 320
Raelin 400
Nerak 450
25 hexes, drop a Blade.[/quote]

Re: The Book of Siege
Black wyrmlings are excellent counters for high defence small and medium heros and squads. They are just plain nasty when it comes to that. Few things in the game will fry Siege as effectively.

Re: 450 point army
It really depends a lot on what sort of collection you have, but I find the omnicron repulsors and snipers are the best bet for destroying a gladitron army. On the other hand, that build tends not to...

Re: 450 point army
This build is definately a bit light on range, but there are plenty of nerak boosted death chasers to serve as cannon fodder, and the marro warriors are just about the cheapest range unit you can...

I've had a chance to play this beast twice recently and he really does outshine the Pulverizer against armies with half way decent defence.
The pulverizer is very nicely priced and has a better...

Re: Unit Debate #47 -- The Kyrie Squads
It's a very tough call between the Sentinals and Minions, but I think I will have to put my money on the Minions. I have seen them completely destroy an enemy army in multiple games.
The...

Re: Unit Strategy Review - Warden 816
The other thing that's really cool about their movement bonus is that you get to move every single GG in your army that extra space. In effect, the more GGs you have, the better their movement bonus...
