Character Bio - "When first introduced, the Beast — a mutant — possesses ape-like superhuman physical strength and agility and oversized hands and feet, though he otherwise appears to be a normal human being. Throughout his history, the Beast undergoes progressive transformations to his physiognomy, permanently gaining increasingly animalistic physical characteristics. These include blue fur, feline facial features, pointed ears, fangs, and claws. His physical power increases to even greater levels, as do his senses.
"Despite his savage appearance, he is a brilliant man of the arts and sciences; he is a world authority on biochemistry and genetics, the X-Men's medical doctor, and the science and mathematics instructor at the Xavier Institute (the X-Men's headquarters and school for young mutants). He is also a mutant political activist. Fighting his bestial instincts and fears of social rejection, the Beast dedicates his physical and mental gifts to the creation of a better world for man and mutant. He also has a witty sense of humor." (Wikipedia, 2010).

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

NAME = BEAST
SECRET IDENTITY = HANK MCCOY

SPECIES = MUTANT
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = SCIENTIST
PERSONALITY = DELIBERATE

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 5
MOVE = 6
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 5
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = 170

NEGOTIATION
Before moving, you may choose one Unique Hero adjacent to Beast and remove one unrevealed Order Marker at random from the chosen figure's Army Card. Negotiation cannot be used against figures with the Insane personality and can only be used once per round. Beast cannot attack the chosen figure on the same turn that he uses Negotiation.

WHIRLWIND ASSAULT
Beast may attack any or all figures adjacent to him. Roll each attack separately.

STEALTH LEAP 12
Instead of his normal move, Beast may move up to 3 spaces with Stealth Leap. When moving with Stealth Leap, Beast has the Flying special power, but may not move up or down more than 12 levels in a single leap, and will not take any leaving engagement attacks when he starts to leap.

SUPER STRENGTH

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

Do we want to change Scientist to Genius. Genius better incorporates his ability to be a scientist and a negotiator.

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

Genius isn't really something you "do" though ... It's one of those words that seems nebulous in that it could easily be a class or a personality. I like Scientist a bit more because it's more clearly rooted in the "class" side of things.

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

Any other thoughts on the Genius/Scientist thing? Do other people prefer one over the other?
Other than that, are we ready to move this guy to playtesting?

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

I think Genius is better for a personality, not a class. So of those two, I prefer Scientist as the class.

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

OK, sounds like Scientist should probably stay. I feel like he's ready to move on to playtesting. I think to make things easier, we can just vote for that in each of these individual threads, and once at least five people vote in favor of a move to playtesting, we can officially move that thread to playtesting.
So, I propose we move Beast on to the playtesting phase (which would take place in this thread).

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

Now that we've expanded our wings, can't we use actual polls for our voting, to make it easier to keep track of things?

But yes, I think Beast can move to play testing.

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

We could ... if you want to do it that way we can, it's just easier to visually track who's responded and who hasn't this way. But we can try that out.
Or, since we only have one poll for each, we could save that for finalizing the cost on each card? Which do you think is a better use?

GreyOwl December 6th, 2009 02:50 PM

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

Not sure. I guess it would be too much to create a separate poll thread for each.

Re: Beast C3G X-Men Master Set

I'd like to contain everything for a single unit, from creation to its "book" phase in a single thread.
If we end up creating several hundred of these, that's going to be necessary. :-)
