Is Cyprien better off a bachelor?
 

Recently acquired Cyprien and Sonya at a sale, and reading there cards more I began to wonder if Sonya is worth the 45 points. Outside of buffing Cypriens chill attack she seems like a pretty awful unit that I would feel kind of bad putting an order marker on. Do Cyprien players usually run her or is Cyprien just good enough as is? Thanks

For the most part, she's there for the buff (that +2 is pretty huge) and OMs only end up on her card during an end game desperation run.

So it’s not so much Cyprien withSonya, as it is strictly 150 point Cyprien vs 195 +2 chill Cyprien? You almost treat her like most do isamu and just use her when your army dwindles?

He's probably good enough as is, but generally, I consider him a 195 point figure. I think the 45 points to get the extra 10% chance to chill touch is worth it. Instances where the points should have gone elsewhere, I would think you were likely going to lose anyway (ie: soulborgs). OMs don't really come into consideration, as she isn't there to use, but just to boost Cyprien.

Also, this. She's generally only used as a final clean up unit.

She's better than you might think as a pure-endgame unit (once Cyprien is dead) because of Life Drain.

Sure, you still lose when she takes the first wound.

But when she can get that first kill off, with her healing, she has a chance to take out ~ 1 squad worth of figures in the right circumstance. So she's not 100% wasted in end-game situations.

But you should (basically) never take an OM on her while Cyprien is still alive.

Pretty much. Though as @Chris Perkins pointed out, she can be useful in the right situation, but still an end game move.

Sonya boosts Cyprien's Chilling Touch 40% of the time. That's actually quite a big deal. Plus, a 15% for 6 automatic wounds is pretty fantastic.

Alright you’ve convinced me. If that’s the actual math that a pretty attractive 45 points.

If you want to play a fun scenario that uses both Lord and Lady, try THIS. During the first round, Player-2 is probably going to want to put Sonya on the ladder in order to engage the Omnicron on level 23, to keep Player-1 from firing down onto Cyprien as he tries to Chill Touch Raelin and/or Kelda.

C3V's Skeletons of Annellintia make Sonya way more worth her points. She becomes a respawn point for the skellies and their synergy in general makes all the Esenweins much more fun to play.

Those are cool. I'm amazed at what C3V units are hiding out there. Units from Cyprien's Undead army were definitely a missed opportunity in OG Scape.
